Bending a del mar 3.5/or JAT

Just a quick simple question,

 

 

Does anyone know if the del mar 3.5 or JAT style neck can be bent for lie adjustments?

Yes they can be bent. Just watch out where the post connects to the head . I have seen one crack due to the weld.

thats odd considering im pretty sure that the jat was a one piece design, the neck was not welded onto the putter, can any of the scotty people confirm this for me. im pretty into scotties but just am curious on this one.

I am looking at my JAT right now and it is a one piece neck...not welded...can't speak for the del mar 3.5 though

thats what i thought on the jat, have you ever had it bent, or tried to aclap?

Never tried or thought of bending it since I got it. Sory I can't help you there. Pitbull808 has a bit of experience with these....maybe he will see the thread and chime in. I am not sure if he has bent one but I know he likes the head design and owns a few.

Sorry for resurrecting a thread going on three years old, but I'm curious for an answer to this as well.

 

I love the design of the JAT, but I find that the toe sits a little higher off the ground than other similar models. I'd prefer to have mine bent to 1-2 degrees flat. I've spoken to two knowledgable people on the subject - the first told me their lie machine wouldn't accomodate the head of the putter - it would have to be hammered flat; the other simply discouraged me.

 

Short of sending this to the Custom Shop, can it be bent flat by a capable professional?

FWIW, I have owned both and "bent" both in my Mitchell Steelclub Angle machine.

Go slow and you will be fine.

I will say that the Del Mar 3.5 was just as hard to bend as a cast Ping putter, which is hard. I recently bent a Ping G2 Tess and it bent my bending bar!

Thats very odd, are the delmar's not carbon steel?

 

I bent my Circa 62 with ease, in a vice. I also find that Yes! putters bend with ease(so much so a friend of mine constantly bends his out of whack and I have to fix it).

 

Some pretty tough stuff to bend a bending bar, LOL

I've got both and they have both been bent 4 degrees flat. I took them to the Palm beach golf centre and the guy did them in 3 minutes!
