who has played it?

Heading down for a wedding for a week in mid May...What do you think of the course?

really late response, but i played with a guy yesterday who told me about it. said if you play twilight the course is DESERTED. he said it's a steal for how much it costs, really good condition, and occasional views of the ocean from certain holes. he recommended i play it and i'm thinking about heading down there in the next few weeks.

I've played this course numerous times and it is a great place to play. It's always in great shape...gets very little play actually. I don't think I've ever seen more that 10 or 15 people on it any time I've played. It is a demanding course, especially from the back tees, even though it isn't that long...6700 yards or so, but there also some forced carries of 200 yards or so. It defintely has some holes on it that will beat your brains out if you don't pay attention. Enjoy.

It's a very nice course, but tough on beginners. I bring lots of extra balls!

I just played this course again Memorial Day and it was in great shape as usual; however, their pricing is out of control. The rates are $65 before 3pm and $35 after. However; neither of those rates include range balls or sales tax. So for my 8:30 am tee time I payed $65 for golf, $10 for range balls, plus tax equaling just about $80 bucks! I didn't even get a kiss to boot. Kinderlou Forest is here in Valdosta where I live (two hours away), hosts a Nationwide event every April, hosts first stage of PGA Q-school, and is working on landing a senior tour event...their full price rate is $75 weekday/$85 weekend and is all inclusive. They usually always have coupons floating around and give a military rate of $53 all inclusive 7 days a week. That's a hell of a deal. Wildwood Country Club is about 40 minutes from St. James and is only $34, and the staff there is working hard to get it back to the condition it was when Bobby Bowden used to come down and play on a frequent basis. I played it July 4th and it was in nice shape, except for recently aerated greens.

Yeah, Wildwood is looking nicer and nicer every time I go. I try to hit the range there about once a week and play at least once a month.

I played St. James Bay last week two times. Very nice course with a great staff. Not a course for beginners who hit ground balls. I will probably play it every time I'm in the area a couple of times at least. On their website you can get a coupon for three greens fees get one free and if you sign up for their newsletter you can get tuesday, wednesday and thursday for twilight price all day.

$65 green fees

$35 twilight fees

In my area $65 is just a little more than just a normal marginal hacker course so I will gladly pay that and it is even a better deal for the $35 I paid both times I played.
