Iowa with 2 of the top 10 new courses

Well, Iowa had 2 of the top 10 new courses. Blue Top Ridge and The Preserve at Honey Creek Resort. I haven't played either of them. As anyone played them yet?

i am 15 minutes from Blue Top, played there couple times. 2008 the course was destroyed by the great flood(s) and 4 of the holes were closed from June on. 2010 the course was open fully, but it is still a very young track. trees still young and what not. very very looooong and undulating greens galore. i thought it was nice, but was surprised to see it rated so highly.

I know that I am a little late to the party but I have played the Honey Creek resort the first year it was playable (they only had 9 holes open because of flooding). But the holes that were open were amazing. It was a pretty challenging course but with some very nice holes and I have heard the 9 that were not open are even better. I live about 20 mins away from here and hope to get out and play the full 18 soon. The staff was a pleasure to deal with and facilities were top notch in my opinion.

I have heard that the Preserve is in good shape right now but do not have any first hand knowledge. I do know that the course I play 15 miles away is nice and green and in great shape so I would assume what I have heard is correct. Never heard of the the Preserve ever being in bad shape come to think of it.

I played there in early July and The Preserve was in excellent shape. The greens are some of the best in Iowa. We've had a lot of flooding in Iowa so the low-lying bridges were under water, which made for some pretty long and creative cart rides. But the course is beautiful. It's a lot of fun if you like to bomb driver on almost every hole and you can score well (I shot 71 my first time seeing it), plus it's a good price.
