R510 with adjustable weights

Has anyone ever seen one of these?

I was talking to a guy on the phone this evening that told me he had 2 R510 Tour Van issue heads with adjustable weights. Has anyone ever seen one of these? Someone will probably say, "Yeah, we know it as the R7!" Anyways, he is going to send me some pics. Just curious if anyone else has heard or seen these----Dan

I've seen it before.

It was the prototype of the R7 that was tested on Tour. Pretty cool looking head, although the one's I saw were a little rough around the edges with the cosmetics to say the least.

I've seen the pictures before as well. I believe that Justin Rose was playing one at some point. As TMFan said, the cosmetics are a little rough around the edges, and it is pretty clear that this was a prototype and never designed to see mass production by any stretch.

But please post the pictures.

Yeah, I've seen ones as well. Cosmetically identical to the r510 on the sole, with four weights spaced evenly around the perimeter of the sole plate. These aren't like the r7 weights which go in at an angle, they go vertically upwards into the head. If I remember correctly they didn't look like the weights we can buy today either. Would love to see some pics though (and it'd be worth $$$$$$$)

As soon as I get some pictures, I will post them. He wasn't too good with sending pictures, so he was going to get some help. I know it is a Brand New head and has never been shafted!! Every time I get an email, I check to see if it is from him. It is going to be tough to get any work done today :)

Ive also seen pictures of this club, like everyone said it was the prototype to the R7. I personally thought it was a sweet looking club, what could be better a 510 Tour w/ adjustable weights

I wonder why it isn't on the usga's conforming clubs list if sergio played it??

Maybe it's a R510 that comes with a few extra weight things to put in the back vibration port. That little gel-ish insert with like 3 round things in it. They had different inserts for that.

I don't think anyone actually put it into play, just tested it on the range.

No, the one I saw literally looks like one of the guys in the R&D department got bored one day, took a 510 head sitting around, stuck it in a drill press, drilled four holes in it and tapped threads into it for weights. The weight cartridge in back is fully in tact.

The head was made prior to the updated conforming list, and hasn't been in play for a long time. The club was strictly a prototype to the R7 from what I understand, and only a few staffers were playing them, Justin Rose included. He did have it in tournament play at some point before the R7 hit the tour.

Wow, I really want to see this clubhead. I wish I could get my hands on one! Can you imagine the feel of the R510 TP with adjustable weights to control trajectory....only in a dream world I guess.

I'll let you in on a little secret...Take a 510TP, go to your local golf shop and buy some lead tape and apply as needed. It peels off easily and no wrench needed!

I am sorry to say that I have to disappoint everyone by telling them that the pictures that were sent to me were of an R5 TP. The guy obviously did not know what he was talking about. I had never heard of one before, but it made since to me that a prototype could possibly exist. Boy, talk about taking the wind out of my sails. I was really excited for awhile. Now that I know that these exist, it gives me a new quest. Sorry to disappoint guys-----Dan
