Nike True Temper Speed Step Shafts

how do these play?

I have been looking at a set of the Nike Pro Combo OS's on ebay and all the shafts are Nike True Temper Speed Step Shafts, I was wondering how these played compared to DG's?

I have never been a fan of Nike golf Eqp. In the last 6 months, I have played the x-tour with Nippon shafts, Mizuno MP60s with 5.5 project x, and Miura cb-300 with freq. matched shafts. I am now hitting the Nike pro Combo oversized with the speed step and I absolutely love them. I have more confidence with the Nike than any other iron. I can hit the 4 iron 205 to 210. The other sets I hit the 4 iron 190. These irons are a must buy or atleast must try!

On topic, the speedstep shafts are just lighter S300's, IMO. I haven't had a problem with ball flight or spin since I got my PC's almost 3 years ago.

Off topic, most people who always qualify statements with "I've never liked Nike clubs" normally haven't either tried them or simply don't want to like them. Nike offers some great clubs for all skill ranges, and for someone to really not like any of their products has mental or talent limits. :)

30 gram diff. in the s300's and the speed steps.. when i switch in the PC os's the sw went from d2 to d3.5

no, the speed steps are not lighter s300's. the speed step, or tx-90 is a low kickpoint soft tip lightweight steel shaft (100-105 grams). in other words, high trajectory, high spin.

the dg s300 are high kickpoint, tip stiff shaft steel shaft (130 grams). in other words, high trajectory, high spin.

i like the feel of the speed step, but its too light and too high trajectory for me. at the deals you can get on the pro combo os, you can still get the set and get new shafts and still have a great set for not a lot of money.

I was speaking from personal experience. I went from Titleist 762s with DG S300 to PCs with speed step and noticed no difference in flight or spin. I know I'm talking two different club heads, but I couldn't tell a difference in performance, only weight.

My old TM 300s with Rifle were a totally different monster, much higher ball flight.

In summary, don't make the speed step shafts an issue when considering the Pro Combos. They perform well with the stock shaft.

The 13* T60 I bought used had a stock Fuji and I threw in a TX-90. If you tip it, it plays very similar to a S300 and the lighter weight makes it a much cheaper option than a heavy graphite shaft.
