x-stiff steel iron shafts?

I am about to get a new set of irons and I am thinking about x-stiff steel shafts. Does anyone have any info about how they play compared to just stiff? I recently switched my graphite shafted woods and hybrid to x-stiff and I am happy with the results. My SS avg. is about 125 so I feel like I could use x-stiff steel but I have never hit one. Is there a good rule of thumb? Do most pros who play x-stiff woods play x-stiff steel in their irons? What could I expect to be different about the ball flight? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks

"general rule of thumb" is 5 iron swing speed over 100mph, at least as far as I knew.

Your driver swing speed is quite high, well into X-stiff territory. I'd be surprised if X-Stiff irons shafts didn't suit you too. Should lower the ball flight a little and straighten out the shot shape.

Have you considered getting professionally fitted for the right shafts?

I just got a new set of MP60s 2 weeks ago. Thsi was through my instructor and their clubfitter. I was only 2 lessons in, so my new swing is not complete. Taking that into account, they made the recommendation of where I will be in several months. The shafts are TT DG X100's. My 5-iron swing speed is consistant at 83-85 right now. It will be closer to 95 when I am done with my lessons. Tehy showed me on video why I needed X-Stiff. A lot of it had to do with tempo. My tempo is around 1.1 - 1.2 seconds. They showed me how much flex I was putting on the Stiff shaft. All I can say is it dastically improved my iron control. I increased distance by two club lengths on mats. When I played for the first time Moday, my distance on grass dropped by a club length when hitting froma matt.

I would recommend going with x-stiff if you have the temp and ss.

How was the difference in feel? I've been playing DG S300 for a while but my 6 iron ss is 93-95 and I have ben considering xstiff in the irons. I think it also depends on feel. I believe Sergio, who has quite a bit of lag, plays S300's for feel.
