3 wood crisis

help me. i hit my sonartec ss 3.5 14* to far by about 10-15 yards. i am looking at maybe putting in a really heavy graphite shaft to help? what else can i do without buying a brande new 3 wood?

Did you try choking up an inch or two? At least if you needed those extra yards they would still be there at full length.

lose an inch off the club and keep the swingweight the same or slightly heavier (cut down regrip and some weight down the shaft) and you can fix this club for $20.00

losing the inch should make it 10-15 shorter.

If it doesn't work you would have reshafted anyways so it isn't like you lost anything.

 

You could also get the club bent but not very many shops will do it.

from your other post, your were talking about how you hit your friends 3 wood better than yours, and that the other wood was steel shafted. the steel shaft is going to weight more, and be shorter. for me, steel has really helped with my consistentcy with the added weight and the shorter shaft. what i might have given up in distance i've made up for in consitentcy and confidence. an extra 5 or 10 yards doesn't matter so much if its in someones backyard or lost in the trees.

the same way some people complain they hit a club 'too straight'

 

in all seriousness though i think a steel shaft might serve what you are looking for. i just put in a project x fairway shaft and it feels awesome, i don't feel i've lost much distance and the feel and accuracy more than make up for it.

No problem with hitting it too far!!!!!!

 

but just try gripping down an inch, as already said the extra yards will till be there if you need them

 

and you will gain control

 

case 1)i mean it is a lot easier to hit a 3/4 effort club gripping down an inch and still hitting it as far as you want

 

case 2)than say compared tohaving the club cut and bombing it out full force to hit it the same distance as you would in case 1
