One year in and I'm hooked!
Update - 4/26

I recently received my Studio Design 2 back from the custom shop. Picked this beauty up on ebay and sent her in to be refinished.
I'll be posting updated pics of my bag as the hybrid, wood, and irons have all been updated for the 2011 season :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update - So I switched out the Machspeed shortly thereafter and ended up picking up this used Victory Tour for $200 at my local roger dunn. This think is a beast. I went from a reg shaft 10.5 to a Project X 6.0 @ 9.5 and the results are unreal. I'd like to credit some it it to my developing game but I thing it's mostly the club biggrin.gif
So as the description states I began playing this game last year. With no experience to go on I purchased a Nike ignite set on eBay last January that worked great for me. As I began to see improvement in my game I began to look at more "traditional" clubs that would provide more feedback to help further develop my game (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :-)
Anyhow, being a Nike head I ran out and got myself a new set-up for 2010... here it is.
nice bag. for 1 year you have a very nice set up!
do you find the driver to sit very upright? By that I mean is the toe sticking way up in the air? I tried one of these drivers at my local golf store and had a weird finding. I addressed it like I would any other driver and the club was laying naturally on the heel with the toe about 30 degrees in the air. It was very strange. I asked the salesman about this and he said this driver is designed to get people to stand more upright. I am not sure if I buy that as every other driver (including the Nike VR) sat relatively flat on the ground when I tried it.
Thanks J9293. I agree, the toe does set up higher than my 07 burner. That's the exact same thing my buddy saod when he tried it out but it kinda works for me, I like to feel as if I'm standing almost upright when I set up so it doesn't really bother me.
The sound on the other hand is taking some getting used to.
Well, I've only played it once and it was great as far as feel and distance but I kept pushing it right further than usual...
Then I noticed I had it set to 2 degrees open instead of closed, duh.
Overall I'm really happy with it though. That extra 2 degrees really helps me since I tend to leave the face a bit open with my drivers.
Solid bag man. I play the split cavs and you really cant find a nicer iron. I see you got the tour cart bag. I am going inbetween that bag and the Nike VR staff bag. I use a push cart normally on the course and i dont think the staff bag will fit in the cart haha. I am getting my method putter in the mail tomorrow.
Its nice to see a fellow Nike junkie.
Thanks Shank! I briefly thought about getting the staff bag but I don't have to game to back up such a gotti bag smile.gif
You guys are probably right about the covers, although I am super anal about kepping my clubs in pristine shape and wanted to eliminate any chance of bag chatter since my bag is always in my trunk.
By the way, It took me a couple of rounds to get used to the feel of the method compared to my Nike BC002, that first round was terrible. It's feeling much better now though.
Ya, I remember hearing Tom Stites once comment on how when you first get a Method, you'll hit everything by the hole until you get used to it. If I didn't have my eye fixed on a Cali Coronado, I'd pick up a Method for sure!
So... The machspeed is out. 07 Burner's back in the bag for now.
Why is it out (just out of curiosity)? I'm not a fan of square clubs, but if I can hit them well, I don't mind (I hit the FT-iq pretty well...it was in my bag for a while). That said, for some reason I could not hit the Machspeed for the life of me. Normally, although I sometimes fight a slice, I NEVER have difficulty making solid contact, but when I went to try out the Machspeed, I was hitting everywhere BUT the sweet spot! I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't....my nearly all-nike bag was no more (I went with a G15)
I still love the machspeed hybrid though...
It's not out due to the look. I like the look and the way it set's up I just found myself having to work too hard just to make decent contact and get the ball out there. My misses are normally pushes but somehow my misses were looking like slices with the Mach. Not sure how much of that was due to the fact that it was a 9.5 vs. 10.5 (burner)
I took both clubs out to the range for a few hours and even got an impromptu session with the local pro and it was night and day between the clubs.
Funny, I was thinking about demo'ing the G15 but we'll see. For now I may just stick to my good ole' burner.
How do you like that G?
I have the 10.5 of the Machspeed and learned if I set up normal with the toe up in the air like you are talking about then I am going to slice the heck out of the ball. If I stand taller and get the toe closer to the ground I have the straightest drives, I used to hit the R9 supertri 10.5 and I would probably have 3 straight and long drives out of 10. Since I got the Nike and started setting up more tall I will hit 8 out of 10 straight and long drives. I love this club, it's been able to set me up better for 2nd shots. I have been able to use a wedge (PW, GW, SW, LW) as my second shot instead having to go mid iron out of rough or because the ball wasn't hit far enough.
