Last Bag or Burst 2?

Recommended Posts

Looking to get a travel bag, should I go Last Bag or Burst 2?

I've read the Burst 2 won't fit anything over a stand bag, and even then, nothing else.

I'd like to fit some shoes in there if possible.

So....Last Bag? Also, does the Last Bag give you anymore trouble at the airport than the Burst 2? Such as weight or costs?

You are probably going to pay extra at the baggage check if you fill up a last bag. The airlines are very strict about size and weight these days, and overweight luggage ain't cheap. Also, the Last Bag is bulkier and more difficult to navigate/fit in a car/store. I went with the BP2 with wheels. Fits a stand bag, a pair of shoes, some balls, and a few miscellaneous items in the nooks and crannies. Plus, it's cheaper. Never had a single regret.

Whichever you decide to buy, get the Stiff Arm.

So you can fit a stand bag AND a pair of shoes in a burst 2? What about a cart bag in a burst 2?
Yes, and probably only if it's a small cart bag (only slightly bigger than a stand bag.)

EDIT: and check with Discount Dans for the bag and Stiff Arm.

I wonder if an Ogio Syncro would fit. It's about the same size as the Grom. Perhaps a bit bigger.

Might be a tight fit (which isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as it fits). Maybe head to a local store and try it out.

I have the Burstproof 2 and it fits my stand bag, 2 pairs of shoes, and a couple of jackets and shirts. I would have went with the Last Bag, but they're really big loaded up. I usually rent standard/intermediate sized cars at my destination, and I can just barely fit 2 Burst Proof's in the trunk, without any room for additional luggage...have to use the back seat for our luggage. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to fit more than 1 Last Bag in a normal-sized trunk. If you have the space, go with the Last Bag. You can't really tell from pictures how big the bags are fully loaded...

Besides, depending on which model year your Ogio Syncro is, I think the diameter is either 9" or 10". The Burstproof is designed to fit a diameter of up to 8.5", so not sure if your bag would fit. If you're near a golf shop, I would just take my bag into the store and try to fit it into a Burstproof. If that's not possible, buy from a place with a generous return/exchange policy...

Agree that the Last Bag is pretty huge. I have the Burst Proof no-wheels version and have stuffed it with a Ping carry bag, 13 clubs, a Stiff Arm, dozen balls, pair of golf shoes and a very small duffel/toiletry type bag with some socks and underwear. Plus a rain suit in the carry-bag pocket and a couple of golf towels.

If you use a small carry bag you can fit a fair bit of other stuff in a Burst Proof. If you use a bulky carry bag or any but the smallest cart bags you're going to be limited to a few sleeves of balls and maybe a couple towels. But if you stuff a Last Bag even 90% full you're going to pay through the nose at the airport because you'll end up going over the checked-luggage weight limit. Best avoid that if possible.

For the price difference between the Last Bag and the Burst Proof you could almost buy a cheap, small stand bag to take on your trip even if you normally use a cart bag.

Managed to find some dimensions online:

Last Bag: 50.5" x 21" x 17"

Burst Proof: 51.5" x 13" x 15"
Or in volumetric terms...

Last Bag: 10.4 cubic feet
Burst Proof: 5.8 cubic feet

Let's not even think about the Burst Proof XXL!

I used the burst proof for about 5 years. I recently (1 year ago) upgraded to the Last Bag. I fly with my clubs at least 3 times a year.

Both bags offer the ultimate protection. I was just tired of cramming things into the burst proof version.

With the last bag, you get the same protection, but can fit a bigger bag, and most importantly more stuff! Yeah, you gotta watch the weight and keep it under 50 pounds, but it's nice to have the option to stuff in two pairs of shoes, all of your raingear (or dirty clothes) and still have room to spare. Most of my flying is done on Southwest and they weighed my bags exactly once is 30+ flights. For the record, I don't use the stiff arm device. Properly packed, I personally don't think it's needed. YMMV

I sold the burst proof, it was working as good as it did the day I first used it. I don't think you could outlive, or wear out either bag.

I was talking in to buying the burstproof by the sales assistant giving me the it's plenty big speech. After dragging it back to the UK from the USA in its box it went straight on ebay and I ordered up a Last bag from club glove UK distributor, the burstproof was neat fit for my stand bag. Even though I use a last bag I still travel with a stand bag but I can get loads more in it. I just put stuff in it that is bulky but lightweight so I don't fall foul of the baggage police at the airport.

After reading this forum and seeing all the great reviews on Amazon, I bought a Burst Proof Wheels 2 yesterday along with a Stiff Arm for my upcoming trip. It seems like a very well made product. I originally had bought the Bagboy T-10 with a hard top, but after reading lots of negative reviews, it seems like that bag was prone to damage, so I returned it. I'm hoping my Burst Proof performs as well for me as it seems to do for others.

Well it could only happen to me. Upon my first flight one of the handle snap covers fell off my Club Glove Burst Proof Wheels 2. After the flight home I found my burst proof wheels 2 had 3 small holes worn through. I will be calling Club Glove Monday to see how they deal with a customer that was disappointed after the first use.

Whoa. I am honestly shocked because my BP2 w/ wheels seems like it's bulletproof.
Where did the holes wear through? Where did you buy it?
Also, please let us know how it turns out with ClubGlove.

I was shocked also and it figures it would only happen to me. The holes were just above the middle strap on the back of the bag. In two flights it was damaged as much as my cheap Bag Boy after 10 plus uses.

I bought it a locally owned golf shop/driving range ( a really well run longtime company).

I just got off the phone with Club Glove and they gave me an RA number to return it and they said they will replace it. I will update you again regarding final outcome.
