Which Driver Produces More Distance?

FT-3, X-460, G5 or r7 460?
Looking for a new driver and I've narrowed it down to the Callaway FT-3, Callaway X-460, Ping G5 and Taylormade R7 460. I won't be able to demo them all so I'm looking for some advice on which driver consistently produces the most distance (throw in a shaft choice if you like as well). Thanks.

callaway x-460 tour 9.5 with the fujikura tour platform shaft!! nice weight, bit on the lite side but awesome!! :idhitit:

you can never really go wrong with a callaway driver!

the FT-3 is long but :D they should of did more R&D on the sound it makes!

never really liked taylor made, i always hit the callaway drivers longer than a taylor made...

you have to go with the driver that YOU feel the most comfortable with and gives YOU the most confidence with, i've hit them all and to me COBRA gives me the confidence to go after it and hit it a mile and a half, i was only hitting calloway at the time of my first long drive competition then was introduced to COBRA by some of LDA guys, and haven't switched since, there are also not so known club heads that are considerably longer than all the major manufacturers. but go with your gut, it's your money remember. it also helps to get the right head/shaft/grip combo for your swing to benefit the most out of that driver. also these unknown heads still conform to usga rules as you can get the list of conforming clubs on usga.org

As much as the club head is there, i think the right shaft will make a world of difference. If you find a shaft that works with your swing the clubhead will do its works perfectly.

I agree with the last two comments above. With technology as advanced as it is now, the days of being able to grab your buddy's driver on the range, hit a few and decide his club is the one for you is long gone. If you buy a club off the rack you might as well just throw your money out your car window when driving down the freeway. The clubs everyone mentions above are all very good but the important thing to remember is that just because they are very good for the people commenting on them, that doesn't mean they are as good for you. Spend the time to personally demo as many different brands as you can and then as many different shaft options as you can to find what works for you. If not in your area, take a Saturday and drive to a city that has the facilities to allow you to do this. There a million car trunks and garages full of drivers that were purchased based on someone else's opinion. Sorry to be preaching but this is a lesson I learned the hard way.

I tested all the drivers you mentioned and the Ping G5 was the longest on the launch monitor for my swing. Of course, as soon as I could I replaced the ProLaunch Blue with an AXIV shaft.

However, please be aware that the Ping G5 has a standard shaft length of 45.75". That's pretty long. I cut mine down to 45" for better accuracy.

Hope this helps.

I highly recommend getting fitted for the correct shaft/length and flex. But in terms of heads - might I add the Cobra F-Speed to the mix. It's loud so it will draw attention to you - but it performs so you want people looking at your driving ability anyway. Its the only driver I can step up to the tee with and not think - just swing.

Good luck in your search!

I love the FT-3 and was going to purchase that over my X460, but in the end the $$$ made the decision for me. The FT-3 is truely a great driver and is deceptively long. When you hit it, it does feel or look like it is going anywhere near as long as it really does. (At least that was my expirience) The FT-3 is definately something you need to get fitted for. I would have purchased the Draw version just based on the technical information, but it turns out, my best drives were with the neutral version. The X460 is also really nice.
