Golflogix in a smartphone

Any experiencewith golflogix being used in a smartphone?

I'm trying to decide putting golflogix on my smartphone.Any feedback as to smartphone make and model? An other onsiderations?

I have golflogix on my blackberry. The whole system works great for me. I have never had a problem with it. Yardages are spot on and every course I play is already in the course list.

If there is one downside it will eat your battery life. If you can get an extended life battery for your phone.

I tried Golflogix for my Blackberry Bold. Really nice app. The downside was I only got 24 hour trial period. Also try nRange golf gps. They say they are going to soon add the stat keeping features that Golflogix has if your into that, but they also have google maps on their courses and you can utilize that for distances....pretty cool. Also, you get a 30 day free trial period, then its 39 for the year or 80 bucks lifetime subscription.

I have Golflogix on my I-phone. Great product, have not found a course they do not have.

However you will need an external battery if you are going to use it for 18 holes. Even fully charged you will only get 14 or so.

Mophie Juice Air Pack, $79 or so. Just the ticket to get thru about 27 holes in one outing.

Have had it for awhile (first on a BB Storm, now a Storm2). I completely love it.

Also, I've never had a problem getting a full 18 holes out of it. Two things drain the battery, the continual use of GPS, and the screen. Can't do anything about the GPS, but I set the screen on the BB to go dark after 30 seconds, and then in preferences in GolfLogix, switch the Backlight setting to "No". The first verson of GolfLogix didn't let you turn the screen off, and I'd usually only get 14 or 15 holes before the battery went dead. Now I finish 18 with a bar or a bar and a half of battery life left.

Have used GolfLogix and found it nice. I like free stuff so I use [url="http://freecaddie.com/"]FreeCaddie.[/url]
It's no frills and super easy to use.

I just played a round with a friend of mine who had the Golflogic on his Droid phone. I must say, it worked pretty darn good.

 

On his, the hole view never changed, i.e all the hole diagrams looked the same. It did display distances to hazards as well as front/center/back green information. He also used the mark distance feature which worked well, his battery lasted the entire round.

 

His numbers never matched my laser, but for the most part were quite serviceable.

 

The one feature that I like that separates a phone type gps from a standalone gps, is the ability to download the course on the first tee. The device recognizes where you are and asks if that is the course you want to use. Way cooler than having to pre-install a course before you get there.

 

He is delighted with his new toy.

Ive got GolfLogix on my BB Tour. Have had it for almost a year. I love it for on course use as far as the GPS, statistics, and scorecard. However, the user interface on the phone and online leave much to be desired. Yea you can see your stats and round summaries, and thats nice. But...There are some features that if available would make this a must have smartphone golf application. First of all, you cannot do ANY editing of rounds or stats online. You also cannot manually add rounds played online (like if you play a round without using the app). It would also be nice to be able to select individual holes and view the stats from that hole. Ive also run into some annoying little bugs here and there. For example..When I sync my stats for a completed round, on the site it keeps showing up with the wrong course name. Its correct on my phone, but not online. Also, I have never been able to complete a round without my battery life going red. I hope GolfLogix will enhance the app and make it more functional and works out some of the bugs.

This is a decent basic GPS golf program. I have never experienced any battery life issues, played 36 holes Saturday and for the first 18 also had music playing from the phone the whole time.

 

It does not keep detailed statistics but it does have a scorecard feature. It also allows you to measure your shot distances while playing. You can program in how far you hit your clubs and it will tell you how far to hole and suggest the club to hit. There is a built in program that will also help you measure your shot distances so you know how far on average you hit a particular club. For example pick any club and hit a few shots, say a dozen with that club. Start the measuring application hit start measuring from here, club type hit and then go out to each ball hit and press the measure key for each ball hit. The program will then store the number of shots measured, the longest, shortest and average distance.

 

Also you can hit the menu key and bring up a Google satellite view of that hole.
