So, which country do you guys (and girls) think will win the World Cup??

 

I have to go with Brazil, the offence is just scary; Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo, Robinho etc etc. The defence isn't very strong though...

Heart says the United States...I guess that is wishful thinking. If I were to bet it would be Brazil. I would like to see England win tho.

I kind of think a sleeper will win it this year, and not some big name...that is what I am kind of hoping for and I would love to see US win, but you never know soccer is soccer and the big dog doesnt always win

offence??!!!!! :crazy: im bred on soccer here in ireland and have never heard that word used in soccer before!! seriously i think you cant look far beyond brazil and argentina..a fit ronaldo kaka ronaldinho adriano and robinho and cicinho[underrated] will be nearly unbeatable....argentina are strong aswell though...messi heinze and zanetti and mascherano are great players

england would have had a great chance if rooney wasnt likely to miss the tournament because he is a phenomenal player..amazing to watch him play

Ive caught the "football" bug even living here in america. i am a nut for any international competition. I like Brazil to win it all. Italy will get out of their group with the Czech Rep. and the U.S. i dont think the U.S. will get out of their preliminary grouping. to strong with Czech and Italy .....i have italy as a definate 2nd rounder but the U.S. will have to battle the Czech for the right to move on.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on Brazil to win. As Riuzzi said, their team is very talented. There was an article in Sports Illustrated looking at what the "second string" or "third string" Brazil teams might look like, and both of those teams would have chances at going a long way in the World Cup.

 

I think it would be great if the United States makes another solid run, and I would like to see England do well, but Brazil will probably take out the US in the second round (if they make it that far).

i'm pulling for the U.S. but realistically you dont need to look any further than brasil, dont the kids leave the womb already dribbling a soccer ball there?

 

p.s. if anyone gets a chance they should go see a game up close and in person. i was in south korea for the last world cup and it was awesome, pure pandamonium whenever korea won!!!

I'm going to 3 games. I'm so happy... In my opinion the Czech Republic and England (with Wayne Rooney being healthy) have the biggest chance of winning.

I think the easy pick is Brazil. I usually end up watching all of their games on Tivo and really enjoy it. You probably shouldn't discount the home field advantage though.

Brazil is obviously favourite, though I alway like Italy. German team is boring though their spirit and determination always amazed me. Well, England seems got some chance but unfortunately hype won't materialize again this time :-(

Shaka Hislop played the game of his life. Zlatan, Larsson and Allbäck all had big chances scoring chances, but all failed to put it in the net. Sweden deserved to win, they put T&T under a massive pressure for 90 mins, but sadly the strikers weren't sharp enough, and T&T was EXTREMELY lucky.

Simple! T&T's keeper was AWESOME. who saw the #1 freekick taker set up England's goal? I think Lamps and Stevie are gonna nail loads of goals in the net for England when they get used to the balls, and just wait 'til Rooney is fit!!!!

Jens Lehmann has had a fantastic year with Arsenal (especially in the champions league), so I'm not surprised that Oliver Kahn is on the bench...but...didn't Lehmann get injured in the first game? That might be Oli Kahn's chance...

 

I don't think they have a chance of winning the world cup though.

There has only been ONE world cup final since the end of WW2 that hasn't featured either Brazil or GERMANY.

 

Oliver Kahn is poo! He had to have therapy when Owen banged in a hat-trick against him! to let 5 goals in from your biggest enemy can't do you any good mentaly.

 

another thing, anyone who thinks Kahn is/was the best ever goal keeper mustn't have heard of Peter Schmeichel or Shilton!

After watching last night performance of brazil i have to disagree , shacky defending to say the least, a striker who WON'T Run. Kaka and Ronaldino where the only players who did any thing. My grand pack more of a punch than ronaldo up top, no affece gran.

 

There is only 2 certin things to happen in the next couple of weeks Mickelson will win the US open and ENGLAND will be crowned king of the football world

I got back yesterday morning after watching England v Paraguay on Saturday and honestly guys the atmosphere over there is incredible. There are so many England fans you'd think we were at home.

 

My heart has to back England. We didn't look that special but a wins a win and that's all that matters. A win against Trinidad and we're already through to the last sixteen. If Rooney's fit by then you can expect to see this World Cup light up!

 

We're solid at the back and there aren't many teams who can play through us. There are some good teams who always let themselves down and it'll be the same again this year (Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Italy). Brazil are the obvious favourites but they looked fairly ordinary last night (let's hope that continues!).

 

Don't underestimate Germany with home support but if you're really looking for an outsider to back then go for Mexico. They looked really impressive the other day and if they can stay strong at the back they might be worth a bet.

 

I won't say too much about the USA guys, they're always fairly strong and reliable but perhaps a bit predictable.
