TaylorMade Tour Preferred VS. TaylorMade R9 TP

Im going back and forth between these two sets, I cant decide which ones to get. When I looked on the TaylorMade website it said that the R9 TP's have less offset, can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have experience playing both and have a preference. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I was in the same position as you. I came across some TPs that had the KBS Tours in them...these clubs are perfect. They are really 1a and 1b...the TPs saved me a couple hundred bucks and I do like these better. The R9's are longer from heel to toe. I am not a great ballstriker by any means but these do the trick.

I just bought the R9 TPs yesterday. I traded in a set of TP MBs that were a bit too unforgiving for me. The R9 TPs seem like the ultimate players cast cavity back. They are very forgiving, great soft feel, great distance, and the best and most unusual thing is the minimal offset. These things are so easy to hit yet provide good feedback. The KBS Tour shaft is a perfect fit too, it adds to the soft feel I would guess. I didn't really consider the Tour Preferred, they are more blade like for sure, more like the MBs, nice looking though.

I have owned the TP 08's a few times and think they are one of the best cast players irons ever created. I demoed the R9TP extensively for a week, playing 3 rounds and 4 range sessions. Results were about the same score wise and performance wise but the feel of the older TP version was head and tails better then the newer R9 TP's. The new ones felt super hollow, especially in the 3,4,5,6 irons. They had the KBS Tour S flex shafts. My 08 TP's either had S300 or PX 6.0 flex shafts, felt more solid at impact and were a little softer feeling. Look at address is about the same, not much difference other then the finish.

I would go with the older Tour Preferred model, I thought they were a lot better feel wise and you would save a few hundred bucks in the process.

I bought Tour Preferred with DGR300 3 weeks ago regarding some feedback from msn2310 & from other web sites.
So far, I am very pleased with the feel, look, & forgiveness. The ball flight is not so low as I heard, and it gives me about +5 yards compared with my previous set.
Overall, I should have replaced my MP60 earlier.
I wish I could have a chance of demo for Tour Preferred or R9 TP, but I could not find anyone for left-handed.

much prefer the Tour Preferred with KBS than the R9TP. tried the R9 TP several times but the Tour Preferred just looked and felt better.
