Just wanted to introduce myself

Hey all,

New to the GolfWRX site. Been a lurker for about 6 months now. Used to play a whole bunch of golf and looking to get back into it more frequently. Hard to find people who play the game for the love of the game instead of for another reason and occasion to drink. Don't get me wrong, I like the 19th hole as much as the next guy but its not the reason I play...

Are there many people in this forum from the Baltimore area? I've seen a couple mentions of the Maryland forum but can only find the Mid-Atlantic one.... Am I missing something.

I've been out of golf for four years. I have come back to play because i love the game. Has anyone else come forward from Maryland? I am in Edgewater just south of Annapolis. I have no time for the 19th because I have enough problems with the first 18. Just don't have time to worry about anything else. I do like the Arnold lemonade and Ice tea mix but who doesn't.

Baltimore metro golfer over here... Live in Harford county about 1/4 mile from 95. Will play anywhere... I love the game but I too cannot afford the 19th hole and the drama that can cause... lol

Welcome to the site. My girlfriend's family lives in Silver Spring, MD; and I make at least 1 trip out there per year. Theres some beautiful courses in that area and Id love to play some golf there one of these years.
It looks like we have quite a few MD members on here, so you should feel right at home.

There's quite a few of us around. Look at the previous two posts for links to the Maryland Thread. Arnold you say ? You play the courses around there like Bay Hills and Eisenhower ? Played Eisenhower last Friday and was disappointed with conditions of some of the greens, tee boxes and fairways. They just aerated the fairways which really needed it but haven't done much for a few tee boxes (hitting off a muddy teeing area gets you no traction and a lot of pushes or pulls, LOL).

I really enjoyed Beechtree when it was still around. We visited it about a month before it finally closed. What a loss of a great course for Maryland golfers - well all golfers that is.

Just talked to a buddy of mine who lost his father to lung cancer at the young age of 59. He's putting together Skipjack's 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament Monday, October 18th @ Rocky Point Golf Course (all proceeds are being donated to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for cancer research in his father's name). I'm trying to put together a foursome if anyone is interested. Cost is $125 per person and will start at 9AM (registration starts at 8AM). Format will be a shotgun scramble after which all the golfers are invited to the Skipjack's restaurant for the prize ceremony, food, 2 hours of open bar and free Coors light draught until the keg is emptied. PM me for further details.

I am in Ellicott CIty and am always looking for people to play with (I play more than my buddies).  I'm 26, play to about an 8 handicap, and enjoy playing all types of courses.  While I do enjoy an occasional drink, I rarely have one on the course.  Let me know if someone wants to play a round together soon.

I just played Timbers At Troy today around your way. With all the rain, course was in decent condition and running cart path only. I have a few days planned for some golf in the next couple of weeks so I'll PM you my info to see if you can make it.

I play in the White Marsh area. Home course is Rocky Point but that may change to Sparrows Point if the tour goes well. (PS any thoughts on SPCC?)
I just started playing about 6 months ago and am a 14ish handicap. If anyone would like to go out and give some pointers im all ears.

I am playing all weekend if anyone wants to meet up.

I have a tournament in a few weeks at Rocky Point which I haven't played in a year or two. How are the conditions ? As for SPCC, you may want to PM Kent01putt. He's a member there and plays quite often. I haven't seen him post in a while though. I grew up in White Marsh - small world I might try and get out Friday morning Oct 22 for an early round if anyone is interested. Not sure where yet.

I played it on Saturday and the conditions are not that bad. The aerate the fairways a couple weeks ago so they are filling in nice and the greens were done about a month ago. There are a couple greens that were lost but they are finally coming back so as long as you hit it by the pin you will be fine. LOL

All in all for as much traffic as it gets, it is in great shape for a pub course.

I will message him and hopefully hear back, thanks for the heads up.

I am down to play anytime as long as you dont mind playing with a semi crappy golfer.
