I've hit the MP-68's as well, they're very nice clubs. The Miura TB's are however, in a totally different class. The Miura's are, as I once heard and didn't believe until I experienced them myself, like playing golf with fine jewelery. I'm hard pressed to believe that it can get any better.

ETA: here is a poor pic of my Miura TB next to one of my SB-1's. I don't have a set of MP-68's though so I can't get you a pic of those 2 side by side.

I haven't owned either set but hit both; hands down I would choose Miura Blades, but the small series 57. Both heads are similar to the eye, but M-68's are more forgiving, larger in size, with a larger sweet spot that's more in the center of the face and low to the back. It's those attributes among others that contribute to contemporary blade forgiveness.

I suspect you already know this. If you choose Miura make sure you spend time at the practice range as swing mechanics and finding the sweet spot will be at a comparative premium, even more so with 57.

Note Katsuhiro Miura's theory behind why he makes smaller head blades when industry trends have gone in the other direction.

I believe there is a class of golfer who will very much appreciate the qualities of the Small Blade, and I have made this club for these golfers. This club is for two kinds of golfers - the first being the golfer who generally strikes the ball on the sweet spot and who wants to simply enjoy the unique pleasure of a perfect shot hit with a Miura club - the second being the golfer who really wants to improve and is looking for the most intelligent feedback on every shot he or she hits. Frankly, if people can cleanse their minds of the marketing hype that has been fed to them over the years, they might find that that forged blades are not necessarily only for the single digit handicappers. You are not penalized for mishit shots to the degree people believe and there are many advantages to these clubs, for example the Small Blade cuts through rough more efficiently than any other club."

I hit the Miz-68 a bunch at a demo outing at my club. They are nice, no doubt. Then I SAW the Miura blades and fell in love. I ordered them through a local Miura rep. They are butter, and I'm proud to own them.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. Invest in the best shafts for your swing. I went with Miura because I knew I would be happy for years to come, which has something to do with their price (jeez, I better love 'em) and their aesthetic appeal.

Great info...I think I'm leaning towards the Miuras. What does a set of tourney blades run? Just a ballpark..

The Miuras run abot $200 per club, depending on the shaft/grip combination. I went with the Aerotech Players Spec Steel Fiber recommended on the Miura site. I tried the KBS 6.0 as well but like the Aerotechs best. I got the 3-PW, 52,56,60* wedges and the KM 350 putter. I've had them about three weeks now.

Thinking about picking up a sweet set of blades...Anyone have some really good insight about the playability of these two sets?

Also...any pictures showing side by side. I've hit the MP-68's and they are really sweet!

Don't discount the Mizzy 68's. They are a superior set of golf clubs.

Miura's are too, but, I play Mizzy 67's because I like the feel better.

Here's a couple of pics of the two heads....

I have a set of the Miura Series 57 blades (before they stamped them that) ie the "Baby Blades" they aren't as hard to hit as some people make out, but they aren't like a X-22 either.

If I was buying a off the shelf club then the MP-68 would be top of my list of ones to try out - and cost wise they are a fraction of the price of the Miuras. That said I'm not swapping mine any time soon!

mp68 is more forgiving. 57 blades feel more alive. the head looks considerably smaller from address. when you put them against each other you see they are not quite that different in size - not that mp68 are small, just 57s seem to have this shape that makes them look smaller than they are - squared toes, thin top line very round edges, satin finish. looking so small at address it really helps with focusing. have to admit short iron shapes are not my cup of tea - small compromise given everything else about them. they are quite a bit more expensive. absolutely do get fitted - given the price and no discounts, you would not be expected to pay much for a fitting.

 • 1 year later...

I started playing on 2 1/2 year ago and against everyones' advice, went with Mizuno MP67s and I believe from the core of my heart that that decision is why I am a hcp 4.3 while my playing partners (playing for well over 15 years with shovels) are still hovering 15...

wanted to try more so went to MP68s, MP33s, MP14s, NIKE classic (not the new VR crap), and then one day saw a guy hitting a Miura baby blade.... Oh... that was love at first sight... literally begged him (he was a flight ahead of us and we had caught them on the 16th tee) and his playing partners to just let me hit one shot...

My god... I swung and thought to my embarassment that I missed the ball completely and then I saw it... flying like none of my shots ever flew before with the quite breeze of fall... my jaw dropped... that night I had ordered the set that I am going to take to grave with me.

I have a set of miura tournament blade (2-p). I love them so much, the head is so soft yet solid. I have never hit mp-68 but i did hit mp-69.

The mp-69 is very nice club but not as soft as miura TB.

The advantage of buy miura is that you can custom it to you spec and the smaller head help you to glide over the grass better (IMHO).

Good luck!

Ive hit the Limited Forged Black Blades with XX Tour Only KBS Black Nickel. While this is wayy too shaft for a Driver SS of 100-103, the Miura forging still felt like butter

Mizunos are larger. But comparing Mizuno and Miura is a bit of a no no.
