At first blush, it seems to run fine on my 3G-S running iOS4. Perhaps there are some features that only work with iPhone 4?

Now that's pretty cool! Let us know how good it works.

I keep telling my kids, as neat as this stuff is, it's only gonna get better. I think back to my first cell phone, it only made calls, weighed about a pound, I'd charge it every night and it would last about 8 hours. Calls were pretty brief at 69 cents a minute (more when "roaming")

My kids both have I phones, one has the 4, the other has the 3. I'm still amazed at some of the apps... Between them, 8,000,000 texts per month and about 5 minutes of calls. (The calls are mostly to/from me)

Just think, what's ahead in ten years will make todays technology seem primitive.

GolfScape will work on iPhone 3G-S as well, not just iPhone 4 only. Look under "Description":

I just took it out on the course. VERY, VERY COOL technology. I have a feeling the screen on the iPhone 4 will be easier to see, and it gives me an error message that the "compass" is not working, must be an iPhone 4 deal as well. I will continue to use GolfShot until I get an iPhone 4 next year, but will also fool with GolfScape. I am very glad I got it as I think it may be the future for Golf GPS. Did I mention how COOL I think it is?

Ah, didn't read the app discription, just what was in the linked article. Either way I can't use it since I am still a user of the original 3G. Waiting for them to fix the the antenna problems with the 4 before I get a new phone.

I am downloading it as we speak. I am always a little surprised when I play with new people at the responses to Golfshot on the iPhone. They always ask a lot of questions and will debate about uPro v. Sonocaddie v. Skygolf but nobody yet had ever heard of Golfshot before I showed them on my 3Gs. I love it and can't wait to try out this new version, although I don't really see how I would continue to use Golfshot with what Golfscape looks like it offers.

It looks great, but I LOVE Golfshot and the ability to hold it anyway I want too unlike having to hold Golfscape in first person view.

My initial thought is it seems like just the GPS section of Golfshot overlayed onto the camera view. Also, NO score card or stats??

YES!!! That would be perfect, but will they? This new app is 10 bucks cheaper, but is missing the stats and score card. This maybe a clue to a merger of the two apps?

I would really like to see this on the iPhone 4. I think it would be very easy to use GolfScape with GolfShot (non gps version) running at the same time for scoring. On 3G-S, I'll stick with GolfShot.

The more I think about this app I don't see an advantage to first person viewing versus Golfshots Aerial GPS feature.

Ran it during league night tonight on iPhone 4 - it's just okay for now, compass gets "off-center" too much during each hole and requires re-centering. Only version 1.0 so hopefully future versions will auto-adjust to where you're at on the hole and display accordingly. Since Google Maps upgraded their satellite imagery recently the overhead GPS on products like Golfcard aren't half bad - the GolfScape app has promise but either needs to include Golfshot (or Golfshot needs to include GolfScape) and/or it needs to figure out where it's at on-course more easily and auto-adjust to what hole you're playing at the time.

Decent app for now, shows promise - will wait to see what future versions bring.

Well where do I start, I have been a big sky golf supporter and a big Apple junkie. So when I saw this new app. For my iPhone 4, I couldn't help myself. $20 bucks down the drain...... I tried it today with complete belief that this was a cool app., well as I found out, what looks cool doesn't alway pro form as advertised . The iPhone 4 does not work in bright sun shine. I was so disappointed that my sgx took over after the fiirst hole. I tried it again after a couple holes and same thing , you can't see it in the sun. I had two of the guys in my group look at it and the same thing was said.
If any body trys this a says it works fine, is simply lying.....
Save your money and buy a dedicated range finder that doesn't work as a phone..........

Played with a guy today who has GolfScape and is running it on his 3G-S. Works really well, but as someone else said, the glare off the screen makes it tough to read. It's not that it's THAT bad, but it is a slight issue. It is a cool app though.

He also has a Bushnell and ended up using that more than GolfScape during his round.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but how's the GPS signal strength and accuracy of Golfshot? I have a SG 2.5 and I love that it stays locked on the satellites so well. On my 3Gs I've only tried freecaddie and it's GPS functionality sucks.

Yes, mine shows to bunker/creek/water/etc as well as carry distance for most obsticles. Also has a cursor feature that you can drag to a particular tree/lake/landing area that will give you the disatance to the cursor position. I tend to use that a lot on new courses where I need to know lay up distances.

As a warning, the customer service from the golfshot guys is crap.
