$40 tour ball for -100mph SS?

TM TP 60+mph/ Srixon Zur-S 80mph+

I don't think I can get most out of the Pro V1/Bridgestone B330-s/Nike One with my 90 SS with the driver but I read on their websites that the TaylorMade TP's only require 60+mph SS and Srixon Zur-S 80+mph. I really like the spin on the greens with the tour balls...so are they saying that I can get all of it with my SS using these balls? I know that I didn't even get close with the Precept U-Tri Tour but love how the Pro V1 makes the ball stick like velcro on the greens.

I think tiger is the only one who can get the most out of the nike one (nike made it for him). However I think the pro v1 is great for golfers who need some spin on their drivers to get some extra carry. The prov1x was made for golfers who spin the v1 too much (like me). I used to have to hit at the back fringe to get a full wedge to the middle of a green so it should just hop & stop for you. I love the taylormade tp ball & like the Z-urs balls more than the nike/bridgestones. just my 2 cents.

You can also try Hx Tour.56. It do the job for me with about the same SS as you have. I have played Hx Tour.56 side by side with Hx Hot, and find Hot to be maybe...maybe...a few, few yards longer. But the greenside spin with Tour.56 is something completly different. And so is the feeling with the putter.

Callaway says they make balls suitable for SS over 70 mph. Also read somewhere that Tour.56 is to prefer over Tour if you are a little slower swinger compared to the pros.

Sorry, but that really is one of the silliest things I have read. Tiger has his own Nike Platinum ball, made just for him. And that has a bit softer cover, than the one at retail. The cores are essentially the same. The balls you buy at retail are very well suited for most any golfer than can get them to perform.

With a 105 mph SS I play the One Black with no problems. I need a ball with a bit less spin, and a lower trajectory, and the One Black works very well.

If you have a bit slower swingspeed, try the One Platinum. The higher launch and more spin may be what you are looking for.

That said, most websites now have a ball fitting guide on them. Nike has one, Callaway has one, I don't know about TM though. I think a 60 MPH SS to get the most out of the TP Red is quite LOW. That is more like a woman's swing speed. From what I know, the TP balls don't really have a swingspeed threshold. They are just different balls for different preferences. (like the old Callaway RED & BLUE designations).

With a 90 SS you should be able to use most any premium spin ball. If you find distance lacking, than try the next tier like the NXT, Niike Ignite ball, or Callaway HOT. Buy them by the sleeve 'till you find one you like. That will save you a TON of money while you narrow it down.
