Do any stand bags have external putter holders?

I'm looking to buy a new stand bag -- and if possible, I'd like one with an external putter holder. I'm not having much luck finding one. Do they even exist?

You can go with the Sun Mountain MPB or I use the Nike SQ Tour that has 14 individual club dividers.


IMO the Nike SQ bag is the best stand bag on the market!

Because a putter with an AM&E headcover on it takes up space in a divider, and tends to interfere with the way the other clubs rest in the bag. This is a very minor issue, but it bugs the living hell out of me.

Up until last year, it would be the Sun Mountain MPB, but they are no longer being made.

The Nike SQ bag is awesome because of all dividers it has. The only downside I have found is that the bag is way heavy!

The Ogio bags have a dedicated putter well that will fit a putter with cover and not interfere with the other clubs.

Buddy of mine has some sort of wal-mart bag that has a well on the outside. Pisses me off every time I try to put it in or take it out of the car.

To each their own though.

Yes, I understand completely. It drives my nuts too. I have a Cameron cover on my putter. I have found the 6 way divider system to be the best. Three clubs in the top hole. Only the putter in the bottom one and the other ten clubs in the other four holes.

I didn't care for the ogio tops.

Clubmaxx Zzeus. Had mine for 2 season now and looks brand new. External putter well. Removable stand legs when used with pull/push cart or riding.

Sun Mountain MPB, if you can find one. Couple on eBay at the moment. Great bag.

Super Stroke also makes a strap-on putter well, for bags that can't accomodate the large diameter grip.

IMO the Sun Mountain MPB bag sucks. My wife suprised me and bought me one for Father's Day. I really did appreciate the gift and let her know. But the bag itself is terrible. First of all it does not have standard handle where you can grab it and throw it into your truck. Second, the legs kept spreading apart letting the bag fall all the way to the ground. Third the external putter holder is the reason there is no handle and it goes right through 2 pockets taking up valueable space. I would stay away from this bag. I would have gotten rid of mine if my wife had not bought it for me.

Callaway STC has an individual putter well. It is 5.2 lbs and is sold at Costco for $80. I like the STC too.

I think Sports Authority has a Cleveland Golf Stand bag that has a separate putter holder. Seems to be only at Sports Authority though.

I just added one of those .99 plastic tubes to my staff bag. Got a dowel rod very close to the same interior diameter of the tube, then cut the dowel to 6 inches. Do about 1 wrap with masking tape around the dowel and shove it in the bottom of the tube. Scotty sticks up nicely like it would in a putter well.

I've just bought a taylormade corza, and it has 7 full lenght dividers, having the upper one large enough to accomodate my cleveland VP milled with its cover (and also to accomodate a putter with a jumbo size grip, such as the 2thumb or the superStroke), and 3 "one club" slots to genlty fit the driver & woods. It's pretty light and sturdy, and doesn't cost more than 80 bucks in the states.

For me, it worths every cent that it cost, 'cause of the weight, the dividers, its stand system, and a hard to beat price...
