My Golf Trip to Sunriver/Bend Oregon

Help with the course selection

I am staying at Sunriver Resort next week for about 6 or 7 days and will be playing golf every morning except one. Here is my plan:

Monday: Lost Tracks (Even though not the greatest course, we are taking a young kid out and the course is still very fun to play)

Tuesday: Tetherow (My favorite course I have ever played)

Wednesday: Going river rafting

Thursday: Crosswater

Friday: Pronghorn (Nicklaus Course)

Saturday: Suggestions???

Sunday: Juniper

I am very excited to play all of these courses, but I need a suggestion for Saturday. I am going to try to talk to the head pro at Pronghorn and see if he will let us on the Fazio course, but that might not work out. I have already played Aspen Lakes and the Meadow and Woodland courses at Sunriver and do not want to play those again.

What do you think of the plan and WHAT SHOULD I DO SATURDAY?

Well I got a couple thoughts, I'm pretty sure that Tetherow is still offering the get a second round (same day or next day) at no charge (call Martin at the proshop, he is a wrx'er as well) so you could swap your pronghorn round on Friday and then play Tetherow back to back on Friday and Saturday. You could also try and get on Brasada. I hear Widgi Creek is fun too.

Do NOT play Crosswater. Just played there last week. Their greens are junk - they lost 9 of them over the winter. They won't tell you that before you play, and won't refund anything after you do. Seriously a unenjoyable experience.

I would go play Black Butte - loved it up there, especially the Glaze course. Tetherow was great, but the greens are weird.

Send a PM to Martin Chuck......he manages Tetherow and is on this site. I'm sure he would hook up a fellow WRX'er with a sweet deal.

Not sure if you have ever played Juniper....just a few tips = either make sure you have a GPS or in the clubhouse you'll find some tip (cheat?) sheets with pointers for playing the course. The front nine has alot of elevation changes that make it a challenge to see exactly where you are hitting to. The back nine is pretty wide open.

For another course, I would try to see if you could get on at Brasada Ranch or Widgi Creek. Black Butte Ranch on a Saturday is not a very fun day, way too busy.....

I liked Juniper. Good greens. Aspen lakes is fun, surprised you didn't like it. Black Big Meadow is a nice course...much easier than the ones you listed though.

Just an update to this: Crosswater underwent a huge project at the end of last season and tore out all of their greens. They installed brand new greens on every hole, to the tune of almost a million dollars. The new greens were in play all of this season, and they are immaculate.

Just booked flights last night to Bend, Oregon for early May to meet up with a buddy for a week of golf. We are also looking into playing Pronghorn, Junipor, Tetherow, and then making a trip down to Running Y ranch for a stay and play package. You'll have to keep us posted how the trip goes, would love some feedback, as nothing is set in stone yet for us.
