Best Golf near Billings, MT?

Can anyone please recommend the best golf near Billings/McLeod MT? Heading up there for Labor Day holiday.

Sadly, I am willing to drive 1.5 - 2 hours if necessary...

I'm not sure what kind of connections you have (or what club rules about public play are anymore) but I'm partial to Briarwood CC as it's the course I grew up on. It fell on rough times about 8 years ago but has made it's way back in the last few years. I would also recommend Yellowstone or Laurel CC as some great tracks. Laurel is always green as it was built on old farm land.

Eagle Rock in Billings is decent. Lake Hills and Peter Yegen are both OK as well. As far as good golf, you have to drive a ways to find some. Old Works in Anaconda is the best public course in the state. But unfortunately it is 4 hours from Billings. I would say if you are willing, make the trip out there. It is a excellent yet extremely affordable golf experience.

Briarwood-South Billings-100 mile radius can play.
Laurel CC-West 15 miles- $$$
Prior Creek-East 12 miles- Links Course only.
Lake Hills-NE Billings-stay away on the weekends.
The rest smell funny but will do in a pinch.

Briarwood is fun; good conditions, lots of variety (front nine is way different than the back), and some very challenging greens. Yellowstone CC is a solid RTJ layout that will make you hit some shots. I'd play at YCC three to one over Briarwood, but both are really nice.

Never played Pryor Creek or Laurel CC, but I've heard good things.

If you get anywhere near Eureka - I would play Wilderness Club. Its currently bank owned so the rates are cheap and they let you bring your own beer. Its a Nick Faldo design and worth the drive depending on where you are staying.
