Sonartec Wedge - Help me out PLEEZ

Hey everyone I am from the Bay Area and I was looking for your advice. I am fifteen years old, a seven handicap and I need new wedges.

I have looked and read about the new Sonartec t35's and those look great. I was thinking about buying all of them, the 52, 56, and 60 degrees. Do you think I should do this or get the 52 and 60 and bend the 52 to 54? Right now I have a 54* Mizuno wedge w/ plenty of nicks on the face and a 62* Hogan, Tom Kite style. Both are plentily worn out and I feel that there is too large of a gap between the degrees of them.

If I get all three of them I would prolly take out my three iron and I would be left w/ my 15 and 17* woods. What do u think the best thing would be for me. I'm not a very long hitter (average about 245 off the tee) java script:emoticon(':fool:', 'smid_17') and in the tournaments I play in the courses are in the high 6,000's in yardage. It's tough when I have long irons and woods into greens and when I don't hit the greens I have to have good shots around them to get up and down. What would be the best choice for me??

All feedback is helpful and I thank you for it. java script:emoticon(':D', 'smid_3')

Thanks,

What loft is your PW??

I play a 47* PW 55* SW, 60* LW. Sounds like a lot, but I'm not a huge hitter and am pretty comfortable with 3/4 shots as well as full SW swings.

With that said, there are a couple of options you've got.

1. Check the lofts / lies of everything you buy. I bought a 56, and it ended up being a 55* which fit my loft gaps perfectly. There's a chance that there's a 54 labeled as a 52 or 56 in teh store waiting for you. :cheesy:

2. Buy a 56 first and give it a try. You might be surprised. My 56 lays so flat and is so playable around the greens I'm seriously considering dropping my lob wedge because the sonartec lays flatter than it does open.

When we figure out what your loft gaps are between your pitching wedge and sand wedge I think I can help giv eyou a little better advice.

Hope that helps a little.

Taylormadefan, thanks for the advice and about my PW to be honest I'm not really sure wut the loft is. I have Ping Eye 2 + Orange dots and when I looked the lofts up on the internet i have seen one site that says it is 47* and one that says it is 50*.

Also, I have a swing that hits down the ball and takes big divots w/ my wedges so I have more of a steeper swing.

If anyone knows the loft of my PW it would be great.

Thanks everyone,

pierce_myear

P.S.

Ben I was in the match yesterday and before I was at the Stanford camp so I havent been to Coyote in a little while

Here's the stats on the Eye 2 +:

PW 48.5° 64.5° 35.50"

The sonartecs fit diggers peretty well since they have a fair amount of bounce when squared up to the ball. You can get pretty steep with them and they won't dig much at all.

I'd first start with picking up the 56* as I mentioned. That way you can see if you really need a gap wedge or not. If you're finding some yardage gaps you want to fill, I'd pick the gap wedge up next, and add the lob wedge last.

Hope that helps a little.

Recently picked up the Sonarte t15 tour version of the retail wedge that you are looking at- I got the gap wedge and it is sweet- Nice look and perfect grind for tight fairway lies and also low 90 yard shots with tons of spin- In other words a very versatile wedge- I would recommend though to not get the entire set of these wedges simply because you may need different specs for your sand and lob wedge based on the condition of the courses you play in the bay area-

Sonartec retail wedges at this time only offer the three lofts and one bounce. Can't go wrong with Cleveland 588 wedges for your sand and lob- Easily bendable to your specs and tour proven-
