Pinehurst Advice

I need some guidance for a buddies trip to the Pinehurst area. Looking for advice on three courses to play that ARE NOT part of the Pinehurst resort. Preference would be to play three different-style courses and we dislike playing through housing developments! Tobacco Road will definitely be one of the courses. Was thinking about Mid-Pines and Mid South as the other options, but I am open to ideas. Any help or advice would be appreciated. None of us have been to the area before. I will likely go down myself a day or two early and stand-and-play at one or more of the Pinehurst courses.

Try "The Pitt" for sure, Southern Pines and Little River, let me know what you think of the pitt if you play it...

Thanks. Would you play one or all of those over the three that I mentioned? I thought about throwing Southern Pines in instead of Mid-Pines, just for cost reasons.

southern pines is a nice track. It is like stepping back in time. ( it is a donald ross course)
We also played talamore, little river, pine needles, tobacco road and seven lakes.

Talamore is a must play....Carolina is alright but the greens can make you shot yourself, they lost some elephants building it...Legacy is one of the best also.....So many good ones, Ive played them all and really no bad ones..You getting a package somewhere? where are you staying?
