My New Holy Grail of Golf Balls

PRO V1x
I want to start out by saying that I have tried almost every golf ball out there, except PRO V1x's. When I would read information about equipment and golf balls, everything pushed me away from PRO V1x's. There is this misconception that these balls are for faster, harder swingers. Maybe, more advanced players. After switching from ball to ball, I finally decided to try the x's after playing a round with a friend who is very similar to me in golf that was playing them. I only asked him why he played x's and his response was "they do not spin as much as a regular PRO V1 and I can still get it to check it up like I want it to". I have played PRO V1's before, but felt they were too soft and would spin more than liked. I finally took the plunge to try the x's and I can not imagine playing anything else now. I have easily gained yardage off of the driver, still get an adequate amount of spin off the irons, can throw the ball at the hole and have it check up nicely, and it feels great off the putter.
The point of this post is for two reasons.
1. To get feedback from others who play the x, and hear some of their comments.
2. To let anyone else out there who was like me and thought that there was certain equipment out there that wasn't meant for them to dispel this rumor. It makes me wonder about other equipment also. Drivers, shafts, irons, etc that are meant for harder swingers? On a robot, this may be a true statement. In the real world, it is what works for you. Don't be afraid to try something because specs say you shouldn't. According to Mizuno's new swing analyzer, I should be playing regular shafts in both driver and irons. Yet I play stiff shafts and have my handicap under 1. I can not hit a regular shaft straight or consistent and it feels too whippy for me.
I have read posts on here about people playing x stiff clubs. Makes you wonder if they really swing that hard. Doesn't really matter though. If that is what they feel comfortable with, go for it.

If you were like me and stayed away from PRO V1x's because you thought you didn't swing hard enough or fast enough, give them a try. You might be very surprised like I am.

I agree with you. I like to putt and chip with the Pro V1x more than the Pro V1 due to the harder feel of the cover and less spin with wedges as I can be a little steep on occasion My swing speed is about 100 with the driver so i don't get the advantage they talk about but it doesn't cost me any distance I don't think. Anyone know much about the specs of the new ProV1 and X that they are testing this week and talking about on the Titleist blog?

ya people talking about you needing a high swing speed can scare some folks off, ive seen alot of people with slower swing speeds hit the prov1 and v1x just as far as the slower swing speed balls. I say screw the SS when getting balls and get what plays best around the green. Ive always played tour balls and i have no clue what my SS is but they work perfect for me, distance is just as far as hard balls but stick on the greens and feel awesome off irons and the putter

I have also tried almost every ball out there except the V1x due to everything and everyone telling me it is for faster swing speeds. I finally just grabbed a sleeve for the heck of it and have since played 3 rounds. And the ball search is over

I Honestly gained about 10 or 15 yards on my driver. I normally only drive the ball around 240, I hit 7 in a row down the pipe 260+ And in my amazement I tried hitting a few other balls I had been trying, because I thought maybe I was just hitting it perfect. I was hitting my driver perfect, but the perfect swings were the same with those balls and I only hit it around 255 MAX. I do not have a fast swing speed and this ball worked fine
Full iron shots spun just as much, or maybe one or two extra feet of rollout compared to the pro v1 and a few others. And that doesn't effect me at all so there was nothing wrong there
all wedge shots spun equally to the pro v1 and I noticed absolutely no difference.
As for durability, In 3 rounds I have used 2 balls. One I lost on the 7th hole of the first round. The second has lasted ever since then. I have used it every hole other then one hole filled with water and I wasn't going to waste a pro v1x, they cost to much. so 45 total holes of golf and the ball has one small scuff on it. But I dont think that effects anything, so Ill keep using it till it gets another one.
I am known as a "tink" of my golf team. (in the spring golf season I averaged about 230) and never reach par fives in 2 unless playing a pretty short course in the 5000's. Today I played a 6400 course and got 4 Under GIR's. 3 par 5's: one about 480, one 530, and one 500. and reached one 270 yd par 4. It makes golf so much more fun
