slicing tee shots after working out.

Has this happened to anyone? I'm just trying to get a little stronger to get more distance. Last week, I was hiting my driver so well, ballflight would be straight or have a little draw to it. Now after working out this week and playing with my buddies, I'm slicing my drives and am starting to have a fade with my irons. I guess I need to play a little more and find my swing.

P.S I'm not sore anymore, so muscle soreness is not an issue.

I'm in the same boat as you..I've been working on developing mainly my back forearm and upper arm.. and I've had a bit of a fade..I think its because the muscles didn't get a long proper stretch so your left arm on teh downswing is so tight it creates a slice

hmmm....i'll keep that in mind next time i go play. i'll try strech out my arms more.

If this is happening after a workout, make sure that you're not "tired" while playing. I put "tired" in quotations like that, because you might not feel physically tired, depending on how hard you worked out, but still, a workout will drain your muscles of glycogen. If you don't make an effort to recharge the muscles with some kind of healthy post workout snack that has both carbs and protein, your muscles may not coordinate the same way. I personally find that after a workout, especially a hard one, I have a little more trouble "getting through" the ball, coming into impact with hand ahead, shifting my weight onto my forward foot, and winding into a full finish over that front foot. This is especially with the longer clubs. In part it's because of my old bad habit of hanging back, either coming over the top, and hitting a pull hook, or "getting stuck" and never squaring the face through impact.

Well if you know how use workout to your advantage before a round of golf, it'd benefit you greatly...

I'm a certified strength and conditioning specialist ( same certification that all college and pro strength coach have) so I know how to do it but with a baby and my wife working all the time while me having to look after the baby, it's hard to find time to stay in good shape. It's basically golf or work out.. lately, i chose to play golf...

Nutrition plays a big role as well. Work out and go straight to golf course without refueling, you're screwed...

I've experienced working out then heading straight to the golf course. It turned out to be a Very, Very bad round. I learned a good lesson that day :drinks:

Could you give me some tips on a good workout routine before a round of golf? I'm looking for anything that'll give me an advantage on the course.
