Where to play in the West Palm area in Feb?

Hey,

Thanks to everyone for all the great information here. I have a trip coming up in two weeks with a few buddies of mine to the Palm Beach Gardens area, and we were looking for 4 courses to play. We settled on, mainly based off this thread, the following.

North Palm Beach Country Club
Park Ridge Golf Course
Delray Beach Golf Club
Winston Trails Golf Club

I was hoping for some insight on how the courses are currently playing (if anyone has been there recently). Are there any in the bunch we should look to replace? And if so with what? Also, are any of these very difficult to get tee times at?

Any other insights at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Golfnow.com had discounted tee times at both Winston Trails and DBGC when I was down there.
I would probably start your trip on DBGC to get things in gear and go from there

I played Delray Beach Golf Club in mid March. It's a really nice set up, and it's not like most Florida courses. It has pretty wide open fairways, and the trouble doesn't really come into play on a lot of holes. The fairways were kind of burnt out, but the greens were in good shape for champion bermuda. For the price, it's a good course.

I have heard really good things about North Palm Beach Country Club and Winston Trails Golf Club, and they are definitely on the top of my list of courses to try down there.

If your choices are flexible, I would definitely recommend Ironhorse Country Club. It's a great setup, and it was in incredible shape in mid March. It's not tricked up, and the greens are really smooth with Tifeagle Bermuda. They recently cut their rates for the season, and I think they have a coupon on their website.

Im headed back down there this weekend... any suggestions for the 2012 season?

I'll be there 8 days this time... my list of courses to play this time are;

Delray Beach - booked
Links @ Boynton
Heron Bay - maybe
Winston Trails
Doral - booked
TPC Eagle Trace - maybe

Was hoping for some help from the locals down there... I want to find a place that isnt too crowded on Sunday the 26th... I was thinking Polo Trace

Can't guarantee "a place that isn't too crowded on Sunday..." but Polo Trace is not a factory by any stretch. They charge a pretty hefty green fee, so getting on and around is usually not an issue (i.e. they don't attract bargain hunters). It's well kept and is not overly difficult (while still being a fun challenge).

If price isn't too big of an issue, I would also recommend Deer Creek (Deerfield Beach), Emerald Hills (Hollywood?), and Jacaranda (Ft. Lauderdale). If it is an issue, Osprey Point in West Boca and Park Ridge (Lake Worth) are 2 muni that are great values (just as good as the Links and Winston Trails, imo).

Would love to join, but unfortunately I'm out of commission for a while.

I think you cannot go wrong with either course.

The. palm Beach Par Three course is very close to the same feel as playing Seminole in my opinion. ray Floyd did a terriffic job when he completely rerouted the course three years ago. You can feel the salt spray on some of the holes. The two 200 yard plus holes play in opposite directions with and against the prevailing wind. Unless you are a very very fine player you will not sniff par from the back tees

I used to play it a lot before the redesign, but haven't had the opportunity to play it since. I've heard the redesign was very nice, but to compare it to one of the top courses in the world means I have to get up there asap.
