I'm trying to get facts around this custom Mini lefty that seems to have made a few former Bettinardi fans unhappy.

If anyone does have [b]facts[/b] you can PM me if you don't want to discuss openly. I have a feeling there is a misunderstanding/miscommunication in there somewhere.

I really really didn't want to get into this. But that lefty 3/4 was made for me. I can understand how people would be upset that "rules" were broken from the social offering. I simply asked the people at Bettinardi if they would consider making me a 3/4? There hadn't been a lefty 3/4 and I was hoping I could be the first to get one. They were kind enough to indulge me. I'm pretty sure they were already working on 3/4 leftys since 7 or so of them were released shortly thereafter at the PGA show in Orlando just a few months later. They are listed in Bettinardi's putter registry for all to see. I'll also say that I know Pure and TMGolfGuy. They are great and are friends of mine and I don't think they harbor ill will towards me. I can understand their gripe and I think they can also empathize with the plight of leftys and the lack of availability of equipment, especially high-end putters. I will say this, I truly enjoyed my time working with the fine folks (Nick included) at Bettinardi to make that putter. It was a great time. But as the Mods (and others) have stated, perhaps it's time to move on. I have. I didn't really want to get dragged into this discussion, but perhaps I've shed some light on the topic.

At the end of the day I'm reminded of something my grandfather once told me, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time."

Now that the owner of the Mini Left Custom has told his side I'm quite "satisfied" with the story. The original tones left by some posters saying that two of Bettinardi's biggest fans had left made it seem like a big conspiracy.

Looks like maybe feathers were indeed ruffled, but nothing if talked out couldn't be fixed.

I was fortunate a few years ago that, for a fee much less than $5,000.00, I was able to design a putter to my exact specifications. The thing with being able to design one was that I wanted to design a second and third.
