Anyone played Poppy Hills recently?

I'm heading out next week from Georgia to the Monterey area on business, squeezing in a round at Poppy Hills on Wednesday. Any recent reviews on course condition, etc? I noticed on their website they are beginning a huge renovation (irrigation, redesigning a few holes, etc.). I hope that doesn't mean it's in poor condition at the moment.... Thanks for any info and insider tips!

Played out there a few of weeks ago. Course is in great condition. But.... they aerated just over 2 weeks ago.

From the NCGA web site:

When will this begin?
The process to obtain permits has already started and could take anywhere from 12 to 24 months to complete. Once the renovation begins the course will close and then reopen one year later, weather permitting.

It doesn't sound like they're going to be starting for some time.

BTW, you may want to investigate joining the NCGA before you go. The savings at Poppy is substantial.

already joined... just wanting to know if there are any insider tips or information. If the greens were recently punched, are they back to (somewhat) normal?

Played Poppy Hills in late December 2010. Course was in pretty good shape but did not drain as well as others in the area in my eyes. Their renovation will hopefully address some of this -- when it's dry the course is great but for some reason it just hold water an extra few days compared to the ones closer to the beach (Spyglass, Pebble). I wonder if there's some soil consideration (i.e., sand drains faster than dirt that's at higher elevations?).
