Does anyone buff and polish your irons?

Between seasons does anyone buff and polish your clubs to bring them back to a new look? If so what do you use

Dremel motor tool (cordless) and a Dremel polishing kit (box full of attachments). Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, etc... should have both.

I clean mine during the Winter by going to Florida to see my Mom and go to the course and proceed to pound my irons into the sandy soil to work away any minor imperfections. I then go to arizona a month later to see in-laws and proceed to finishing step of tumbling my irons in the very small pebbles found on their courses. Wipe with a towel and keep the grooves clean, they are golf clubs not cars. Unlike autos, they are performing their best when they are smacking into things. However, I do understand the need to do something golf related when there is 4 feet of snow on the ground so I would suggest a buffing wheel with good compound stick if you must, with a very large boubon on the side.

I have an electric motor with a cloth bonnet attached...mounted to the wall in the garage. I use the white compound that comes as a brick. It works great for the soles of your clubs; I do it before I sell my irons each spring.

I actually built it for gun parts, but use if for many other things beside golf clubs. You can buy hte brick compound in various grits also.

I do this every 3-4 months.

Ha ha. When my car was new, i was a polishing and detailing fanatic. Now, it is unwashed, and full of clubs and magazines. When my irons were new, i had a head cover for every iron. That lasted for about, ermm, 2 weeks. I still wash my clubs after every range sessions though.

I read the title, and I thought, you've got to be kidding me. Then I remembered, off-season, ah, understand. I'm lucky because we have no off-season here in the tropics, just rainy season, and plugged ball issue on crappier courses.

I have several different types of wheel that can be mounted to my electric bench motor....

1. 8" Dia Cloth buffing wheel + compound for polished iron heads...

2. 8" Dia Cloth (unstitched) buffing wheel + compound for light scratch/polishing of driver/fairway/hybrids


2. Triple Scotchbrite wheels 150 Grit for giving a satin look on iron heads and removing scratches from driver faces...

3. Single Scotchbrite 100 Grit wheel for removing heavy scratches prior to the 150 grit

I can post a pic of some VFT irons I just did, bought used in good condition, now look like new...
I did not sand blast the faces but can do that or re-tumble heads for a matte look...I live in Michigan so have waaaaaaaaaay too much time during the non golf weather...

I hit the shiny spots with a scotchbrite pad to dull it. Hate glare.
