Carbon steel 1020 vs 1025

can you feel the difference?

I'm using bridgestone J33 combo which is made of 1020 carbon steel. This is my first OWNED set of forge irons and i'm used to this feel.

Yesterday i tried the new titleist 695 CB which is made from 1025 carbon steel. They feel soooo much softer.

Aside from the forging technology endo vs miura forge, can you actualy feel the difference?

1020 is slightly softer than 1025 due to there being .2% carbon versus .25% carbon. The more carbon, the harder the steel will be.

The actual hardness difference though with a .05% difference in carbon content would be very, very small.

The difference in feel probably has more to do with weight distribution or forging process than material.

The sensation of "softness" can also be caused by a difference in shafts. I have identical mizunos. One has the N.S.Pro shaft and the other has the Project X. The heads with N.S. Pro's seem softer.

I 2nd the motion. Nakshima's new Tour Forged Irons are made from 1020 and I can't really tell much of a difference between them and the 695's when I used the demo 6 Nak which has a similar DGS300 as the 695. But when I tried one with a Project X it seemed significantly softer and quiter. Fine combo, btw.
