Looking for a reputable Titleist vendor who can get me a 905S with custom shaft reasonably quickly and at a good price.  Someone with an internet site would be preferable, but not absolutely necessary.  Thanks.

Have you tried using our search function through golfsmith? They have a playability guarantee and can probably get something as fast as anyone.

Fidd's is cool, I used to shop there a lot, but I've heard a number of really bad stories about them.

Here's just one story of what I'm talking about...

The Macgregor rep came into Fidd's and asked one of the sales reps about the Mac clubs.

Mac rep "what do you think of the new line of mac clubs?"

Kid "they're ok..."

Mac rep "with a $40 spiff, I would have thought you guys would have sold a lot more"

Kid "What spiff?"

I have personally known the Whalens ( Tim and Alan ) at Fiddlers Green for 15 years and have dealt with them as an OEM. They have the highest integrity and conduct business in the most aboveboard manner of anyone in the business. You can ask anyone in the industry. If a manufacturer was paying a spiff to the sales staff they would certainly pass that on in full to their salesmen and not keep it for themselves. I think it is unfortunate that someone here at golfwrx would choose to toss out innuendo like ".....but I don't know about their owner. I've heard a number of really bad stories about them." If you have documentation relative to something "bad" that the Whalens have done, then lay it out with proof

rather than libel someone and their livelihood!----------If I were a lawyer representing the Whalens, I would have a field day with you!

you don't know for sure what goes on beyond your relationship with the Whalens. I'm telling you what I have heard from reps that work there. You're right though, and I don't want to get in a pissing match with you. But the next time you go to Fidd's take some of the employees out to lunch and get the real scoop, then call me a liar.

Well, I have no idea whether or not what Primo says is true, but Fidd's gave me a great price on a 905S with 757 and the guy that I dealt with was good (plus 7-10 days to ship from Titleist). During that call, I somehow found myself buying a 904F with Fuji Pro 95 as well...oops. Anyway, if I run into problems with Fidd's, you will all be the first to know...hopefully that won't be the case.

I think I DO KNOW what goes on beyond my relationship with the Whalens because I personally HAVE taken ALL of their salesmen out to lunch, dinner, cocktails, as well as hosted Fids salesmen in Chicago and Bandon Dunes on sales contest trips. I will personally be there again in mid August with my Pacific Northwest sales rep to take a group of Fids salesmen to Bandon Trails. If you look at the longevity of their sales staff relative to just about anybody else in the golf retail business, that would not be the case if the Whalens were dishonest and bad people to work for. Every company whether it's retail or wholesale has certain employees that grumble and say negative things about their employers. I guarantee you that those are the underachievers and lowest performers. Fids has them like any other company and believe me I know who they are, because they've bitched about and told the same things to me in person. All I can tell you is you need to always consider the source!

Enough said about that subject! What puzzles me in your posts is how that would affect a customer ordering and purchasing a Titleist club from Fiddlers Green? Are you saying that Fiddlers wouldn't order the club? That they would take the customers money and not deliver as promised? That they would claim false lead times just to get the customers money?-----------------What exactly are you infering about their ability to conduct business by saying that you have "heard bad things about the owners"????????

Ok, I'll just say this and end it...

Fidd's does have good prices and will deliver from a customer perspective. So from a consumer perpective there is nothing to worry about. I know they are probably a good account for you, I know they sell a ton of tour edge.

As for the rest of it, I personallu know several employees at Fidds as friends, some that have been there for a very very long time. To be frank, my issue is strictly with Al and how he does business. I just saw my friends last week and heard a number of horror stories, the Macgregor story is true, and the least shady. Do some of your own digging and you'll see. As for the longevity of the employees, there aren't even any sales reps left that even play golf. The 2 guys that they do still have just recommend tour edge to everyone and make good money on the spiffs.

Look like I said, they do have good prices, and they will deliver to the customer. I just don't like to recommend business where the owners do shady things. I shared the Macregor story, that's just the tip of the iceburg. I don't really want to get into it, or start a smear campaign, but I just can't recommend them.

As for hearing complaints on the "reward trips" like anyone is going to complain about anything on a free trip to the dunes...

Sorry for the thread jack. please pm me if you want to continue this discussion.

Seems like I am a little late to this party BUT if anyone is still looking for an answer I would highly reccomend Carl's Golfland in Michigan for ANYTHING that you need. They have great prices and GREAT customer service. They can get you anything that you need and they can get it fast. Plus if you are ever in the area there is no golf shop anywhere that would be better to kill a couple hours in than Carl's.
