904F 19deg vs 585H 19deg

Hi all,

 

Looking to fill a gap in my bag between my 15deg 904F and 3 iron. I'm bombing my 3 wood and it's reasonably easy to hit off the deck. My 3 iron carry is around 210 yards, and 3 wood is 240. I struggle a little bit with long irons off the deck (who doesn't??) and was wondering whether a 585H would help me on tight fairways. Has anyone else got a 19deg 904F and what are they like off tight lies. Most of the courses I play here in Australia are hard and fast.

 

Obviously price is important! The 904F's are under $100 now, whereas a 585H will be at least double that when they are released.

 

Should I wait?

I have not hit the 585 but based on how everyone else is doing it, the 19* 5W does not equal the 19* hybrid. The FW may be as much as 2 inches longer which could make it up to 10 yards longer, maybe more.

 

I never had any problems on tight lies with the 904F 19*. With the flatter sole, it might be a better idea than a hybrid and the opposite when you are in the rough.
