I would assume that they will, but not for a while. The only protos we've seen are the S58's and the Rapture irons and driver. If Ping follows their tradition, the I5 blade should be around within 18 months. The i3 irons were released late '99 and the i3+ came out in late '02. So if not a I5 blade, possibly an I5+?

honestly.. take a hard look at the I5's are they are... i wasn't to sure about them either.. size/offset. but i love them.

I was worried about I5 offset and planned on buying 8-w in the s58. Absolutley no issue no that I've played the i5's for a couple of weeks. Dialed in with the short irons and the longer irons are so easy to hit

So will WRX do iron grinding too? I would bag a set of i5's if I could get less of a trailing edge(less bounce and more agressive leading edge grind)....anyone know???

I just bought a new set of G5's. I also looked very closely at the i5's. It was a tough decision. Only difference is in the width of the bottom. The i5's are VERY close to the i3's. I do love my G5's but I think I would be just as happy with the i5's. After 40 years, got my first ace 7/21 with my Pings after only two weeks with them.

Ok Ping gurus.....what is the difference between i3+, i3 blades and the i5's.... I can see the offset difference between the i5's and i3's...but what eles?

I believe the differece between the I3 and I3+ was offset. I think the I3+ had less but, I could have that reversed.

A 15% larger Custom Tuning Port (CTP) in the cavity that increased the perimeter weighting for added forgiveness

 

A larger Notched Hosel for an easier transition through the grass

 

Redesigned leading edge and bounce geometry which lowered the face surface for more consistent ball contact and improved playability from a wide range of lies and conditions

 

Those are the differences between I3+ and I3 mainly being the amount of bounce less bounce on the I3+

 

The Blade offered a smaller size and less offset

i think the i3+ was different with some type of different sole design/grind. and the blade versions of both the i3 and i3+ had to do with offset.

In regards from i3 blade to i3+ blade the sole was wider, had a leading edge radius, and more offset. I just called Ping and for the offset reduction, it's $64 PER CLUB. HOLY CHIT THAT'S EXPENSIVE!!!!

Wow, that is a lot of extra cost. Are they grinding it? Or are they simply cast from a different mold?

 

That's an added $512, might as well pick up a set of J33 cavities or 755's for that much.

Interesting, I always thought that the only way to do that would be to either bend the lofts strong or weak to increase or decrease offset.

imho.. the offset in the i5's isn't so bad that i would spend more then 20 bucks an iron to get it..

 

if you a club with less offset just get the s59/s58.

 

if a person is such a good ball striker that they want/need less offset then the s58/s59 isn't going to be too much iron.

I also want to mention that the i5 IS the Blade version of the G5 so I don't think they would ever do an i5 Blade.
