Scotland residents...

Please help!

I am in Aberdeen for business and can make it out for one round this weekend and would like to play either Royal Aberdeen or Carnoustie. Of course, I am assuming the weather will be like it was today!

Can any locals provide any insight on which of these courses would be the best to play this time of year, and course conditions if possible?

I have been here for two weeks, and it has rained one time.

Since nobody on here apparently lives in Aberdeen and could answer my question, I found out that most "good" courses are using fairway mats until March 31st, as well as some temporary greens. I opted to not play this trip.

Shame you didn't make it down to Gullane/N.Berwick. Plenty of sunshine for 5 days now. Had to put sunscreen on my face yesterday afternoon! All courses in super condition in this golfing paradise

you are in luck... my dad is the vice captain at Royal aberdeen until may then captain for the walker cup there in september...

 

i played there on monday and wow its in good condition for this time of year....

 

dad accross the 2nd fairway - i hit it he was up there!!! and he plays off 2 there!!!

the greens were fast.... fairways awesome and pins were in some tricky spots... it was only my thrid round of the year so didnt play well 15 over(kept duffing everything within 100 yards) after a 6 and 7 over round on my home course deeside which is nothing in comparison to condition... only tees that were out were the mens...

stop!!!!!!! march 1st was the cut off at royal aberdeen for mats....

and the forecast is good...
