Red Hot vs GX-3

Going to buy a range finder and these are the 2 I am considering. I only want to do this one time. Which should I go

with and why. My home course has reflectors on the flag sticks but I play away almost as much as home.

Pick up the GX-3 and put your mind at ease.

Is the GX 3 really worth the $100 difference from the GX 1? I am all for technology but I'm looking for the
best bang for my buck.

Latest edition of the Laser Link. It does not need the reflectors in the flag stick and can be used like other range
finders on bunkers, trees, and other landmarks.

GX-3 is what you want not the GX-1. If money is a big concern the bushnell 1600te is 339 at amazon right now.

I haven't had experience with the Leupold units but we do stock the Red Hot in our shop. One thing I noticed about the Red Hot one foggy winter morning was that it can not pick up flags in thick fog or rain. It lacks the "pin seeker" tech that can be found in Bushnell units. Not sure if your GX-3 unit offers some similar tech as the Bushnell's. The Red Hot kept missing flags and gave me yardage readings for background noise.

Red Hot is as simple as a laser can get. One thing I do not like about it is, It's shape. Kind of awkward and not as compact as a Leupold. When in bright daylight it is very accurate and a lot easier to target than scoping through a Bushnell. I'd imagine if your course uses laser prisms on it's flag sticks it should have no problems. Has a big easy digital readout of yardage.

If I had to choose a range finder, I'd much rather pickup a Bushnell V2. It's compact and accurate w/ pin seeker tech.

GX-3 has fog mode and can laser through glass clear object that 1600 cant. It also has a pinseek ability and also has a prism lock feature that locks and beeps when you hit a flag with prism.

not to mention the Leupold rangefinders have the best optics of any. my opinion, the gx3 is worth the extra money over the gx1 because of the bright OLED display.

I have a Red Hot, and it works GREAT! So much easier to use then the units you have to bring up to your eye like Bushnell or Leupold. It is easier to use the Red Hot because you hold the unit in front of you like you're firing a gun. I am much steadier w/the Red Hot then a Bushnell or Leupold.
