Scotchguarding Golf Bag???

Just bought a Mizuno Speedster II bag which has a good bit of white on it. Wondering if anyone has used Scotchguard to help prevent staining and dirt on a white bag? Any other suggestions?

I,ve used scotch guard on all my PING bags for the last 20 years... worked real good for me when I was stationed in Okinawa. They got some rain over there.

I'm curious about this as well. I just purchased a new predominantly white golf bag and want to keep it as clean as possible. Has anyone else used Scotch Guard and had good success with it? Also, does using Scotch Guard do an effective job of repelling rain water? From the post above it sounds like it does, but i'm curious if others have had success using the product.

i got the new sun mountain hybrid bag in white for christmas and put 4 coats of scotch guard on it before playing. I have been to a muddy range 4 times and played twice in wet conditions and it easily wiped clean

I got a new Callaway bag that has some white on it and was wanting to do the same thing to it. I contacted 3M about which of their products would be best to use on a golf bag. You can see more about it here:

For those of you that have done this, were the zipper teeth plastic or metal? Did you cover them or just spray over them? The zippers on my new Callaway bag all seem to be made out of plastic and the 3M folks said not to get the spray on any plastic. But taping them off is gonna be a pain in the butt.

Thanks for the info. I just couldn't bring myself to try it on a new golf bag. I ended up finding another product to try. It's called Kiwi Camp Dry Performance Fabric Protector. They also have a heavy duty version but it contains silicone and it says that it will darken fabrics so I ruled that one out.

If you scotch guard it just soap and water. Oxy clean for tougher stains

I've put 2 coats on my brand new stand bag and haven't noticed one issue. Granted, i haven't taken it out yet on the course, but the bag dried just fine.

The Kiwi Camp Dry worked great. I sprayed the bag with 2 coats yesterday and tried sparying a little water on it this morning. The water just beads up and rolls off. I sprayed the rain cover too and it works the same.
