How far with regular driver.

How far do you hit it with stock driver.
I have a taylormade r7 with a x-stiff shaft , 9.5 loft.
I hit 300-350 yards pretty straight, but it looks like I really need to bring down the loft because it balloons with a hang time of 6-8 seconds.
What do you guys think ?

and how far can you guys rip it with a regular mass produced driver?

350 yards and straight... If that's even close to being true I wouldn't change a thing.

I am in the long drivers lab right??

Doesn't everyone in this particular forum usually crush it?

I guess Ill have to upload a video for yall this spring.

touche. also if you're ballooning it, it's not always the amount of loft, move it back 1-2 inches in your stance and problem solved, less loft at impact.
I would be careful with moving it back in the stance too much. If you decrease the AoA too much you end up putting more spin on it, making it balloon worse.

Edit: spelling

Yea I was gonna say, the ball was already near the middle of stance which is pretty far back for a driver.

But, I fixed the problem , I think it came down to the shaft.
When I got a new r9 driver with x-stiff shaft 75 grams I believe , it seemed like it was more like a bullet flight then a ballooning.
Dont know if thats really the cause , but would using a weak shaft with high swing speed cause ballooning also?

Definitely. Even if you are able to time the release of the weaker shaft properly, it will release to a much greater degree than a stiffer shaft, adding loft to the face.

swinging out of your shoes with poor balance and questionable mechanics, i believe that you have hit it 350 before under the right conditions, but as far as doing it consistently there is no way. looked completely forced, honestly it looks like you hit it about 260 in the trees a lot of the time and yeah, you probably hit it 300 when you connect.

dunno what down the line means to you, but i can see the ball in the video, and 1, 3 and 4 went in different directions.

Its impossible for you to see how far the ball goes in this crappy video. ( better one on the way)
The fence itself is 250, and the ball left quickly over the fence. So I highly doubt it was 260 ... lol
I did make solid contact every time and even on the last one which I pulled about 20-30 yards to the right.
that swing might not look very mechanical to your but Im sure all the planes match up just fine with a slight margin of error.
BTW , this is my 85% of power swing which usually lands me in the 300 yard range.
Jason Zuback's Swing looks forced...but hey, it works for him right.
Oh yeah and it was only 41 degrees out....(wearing a t-shirt because I tend to work up a sweat)

and of course I do not hit 350 yards consistently.. I meant 350 as in that is my farthest range with a Taylormade r7.

never said i saw how far it went, i said i saw the direction, and the balls were all over the place. i never said it was 260, i said it looked like you hit it 260 in the trees pretty often. nice comment on the "planes matching up with a slight margin of error", whatever that means. you look like every other 8 handicap who swings as hard as he can. and honestly, the fact that you would post this and think people on this site with many of our backgrounds would be impressed with it shows nothing but how cocky you are. just like the above post. you need to tone it down a notch.

wow! a t shirt in 41 degree weather, you sure are rough and tough!

I wasnt saying you guys would be impressed I was just backing up the fact that I can crank it 300+ yards, thats all.
I was saying i was in a t-shirt because it didnt look like it was 41 degrees out and yes we all know temperature effects how the far the ball will compress and travel.
Can we see a video of your swing? Im sure you posted one already ?
My tone...? I didnt know you could hear me typing.
lol jus kidding man., Ill post a better video next time.
I was mentioning the swing planes because well obviously if the ball goes straight and far ... the planes must have matched up at some point during the swing.
What is your golf background anyways? Dont take offense too my typing. Just curious man.

you know your shoulders are aimed way left, compared to your feet?
yes sir! they are.

Just a little bit of my baseball backround coming out in my golf stance.
Ive just always felt more comfortable with a closed stance during my driver swing.

i never said you couldnt hit it 300 yards, in fact in every post ive said that you probably do hit it 300 yards on the off chance you actually hit the clubface.
agan, since you dont read, i never said i could tell how far it was going, and the t shirt comment was idiotic.
i dont have an inferiority complex that requires me to post my swing on the internet and brag about my ability.
what did i say about your tone? once again, learn how to read.
you can post all the videos you want, its still gonna be you in them.
the ball may go far sometimes because you swing out of your shoes, straight is a different matter, and once again, i saw the ballflight, it was all over the place
whats my golf background? im actually pretty well known around here at this point. i played division one golf in college and i played professionally for 5 years, thanks for asking.

yes, bygones be bygones.

Honestly man, only the last one was pulled left.
The camera angle is at 7'o Clock. So its not the best angle for observing the ball flight
No inferiority complex here. Just a proud war vet.
Sorry tho again , take it easy man.
Ive always swung my driver out of my shoes , it seems to take tension off ankle tendons and the ACL to without coming to an ubrupt stop follow through that would probably hurt me.

hand offered is a hand taken, no hard feelings here either, guess we all take things a little too seriously sometimes. good on you for being the bigger person, i feel like a jerk right now. like i said, no doubt you can hit it 300 but slow down a little for the good of your back!

Are you trying to become a LDer? pick up a low lofted club head and put it into a 50" shaft. Your stock TM ain't gonna cut it.

Find a local qualifier and let er rip!

i bought a adams 9064ls stiff alpha shaft and i average around 120 mph swing speed, and 60% time i balloned balls at the range, first because range balls blow, and second the shaft was too soft and i was rushing my swing. Drove on average around 325 ish. But i changed to a x stiff graffoly platinum and calmed down my tempo made it much smoother and i havent balloned a ball since, i hit a ball yesterday 300 yrds in to a strong head wind. It really just comes down to your tempo if you can make a smooth tempo and a good transition you shouldnt be balloning balls, plus you have to consider your at a driving range, and those balls blow.

And if your worried about air time try moving the ball behind your front foot i play a 9.5 and it works great amost hits like a 8.5
