Wisconsin Am Tournaments

Short stops?

Currently reside in Milwaukee area. Curious if anybody is familiar with am tournaments in this area? I grew up in southern Minnesota and NW Iowa and it seemed every weekend you could find a local small town/course running a 1 or 2 day individual stroke play tourney. Typically you could "declare" championship flight or just sighn up and get flighted according to the field. Seems that doesn't exist here and everything has been replaced with scrambles. Does this exist anymore in SE Wisconsin area?

does the wisconsin golf association have a page w/ their statewide tournaments? i'm in NE Iowa and thats how i find a lot of those smaller ones up here

my sister and brother in law just moved to milwaukee last summer...they live a couple blocks from UW-Milw campus....we played Fire Ridge or something like that about 30min north of Milwaukee and we really enjoyed it

Nope, WSGA doesn't seem to do that, at least when I looked last. They list out their events, state am, open, various team events but nothing else from whatbi can tell.

Unrelated, note if you are ever in NW Iowa area, or want to make a trek with a bunch of guys, check out the Sioux Valley Match Play tourney in Cherokee IA. Good little course, 18 hole qualifying round, they have maybe 6 or 7 flights where top 16 make champ, next 16 in first, etc, etc. 9 hole matches for 2nd flight on while 1st and champ play 18 hole matches. Make for a fun weekend, assuming a person doesn't get beat 5 and 4 on first match Sat am ( it is a sat and Sunday tourney, if a person keeps winning which is why going with a bunch of guys is good..somebody can make it to Sunday and rest drink/cheer them on.

I am also from Milwaukee. I have been thinking about going through some of the Am Tour events through the golf channel. Nice locations but super pricey....

But I am with you I would like to find some good weekend tournaments.

are the golf channel events popular there? here, at least in my division, there were only a couple people that played in each tourney...so kind of a waste of time

i should make it to cherokee for that, i enjoy match play tournaments and there aren't many around to play.

I have never played in one but I do not know of any other local tours in the area.

check out [url="http://www.localamateurgolf.com"]www.localamateurgolf.com[/url] - guy I know put it together. He doesn't have any WI tournaments listed, but there are a few in the northern suburbs of IL that would not be very far from Milwaukee.

I'll look into N Illinois a little closer. I've seen some of folk tours (golf galaxy I think) but never look like full fields....will keep a look out

I play on the golf channel am tour out of milwaukee. It is alot of fun and this year there are more people then there has been since I started 3 years ago. I play in the Hogan flight and our first tourny is up to 20 some guys in my flight. We play some great courses, and nobody sandbags. You can play as a guest to see if you like it.

Chew70... which flight do you play? Do you know if the other flights are experiencing growth as well? I played one of the Golf Galaxy tourneys with a friend for fun last year, but don't know that I would do it regularly.

EDIT: sorry... skimmed and didn't see that you said you play the Hogan flight. rest of the question still stands.

The only thing stopping me from joining the milwaukee tour is a busy summer and the max amount of tournaments I could play is 6. And that would be pushing it. I do love the MKE tour courses though. I have played nearly all of them and usually play them well.

Yes our championship flight has grown and so has the palmer flight.
