Nike Slingshot Tour Irons...thumbs up or down?

Need to hear some feedback on these... they look decent... but how do the play?

I have had 5 rounds on my back up set of SS Tours/DGSL. One of the better cast clubs I have hit in a while. Forgiving because of the widish sole but it has low offset and a thin topline. The thing I like about them versus my only other cast set X16PS is that they don't feel and play as hot off the face around the green on chip and finesse shots. As soon as I have them bent flatter and blueprinted they will bump out the Tour issue X16PS as my "muni conditions course" set.

Also look into the NDS. A great SLEEPER set at a good price. GREAT look at set up, shafts may need to be changed though.

NDS are great as well.

 

IMHO if you like the Titleist irons of the DCI era especially the original DCI black, the NDS will look very similar at address. Squarish toe and low-moderate offset. IIRC SS Tours look like they have less offset and thinner topline but wider sole. Performance will be a wash with the right shafts. Decision will be from a design benefit/aesthetic standpoint IMHO.

Thumbs up for me. When I got fitted I never thought I'd play a set of Nike's and they felt the best and had a good look from the top.

Thumbs up. They get the job done for middle handicappers by providing a forgiving clubhead with a healthy dose of shotmaking capability. If you are a traditionalist who wants a forged type player's cavity and lack an open minded attitude about designs that are innovative and revolutionary, look the other way. The SS Tours are one of those sets where weird works.
