most forgiving irons

my dad is looking for a new set of irons, and wants the easiest to hit. i suggested the r7 cgb's, callaway big bertha's. what would you recomend, for most forgiving?

Big Bertha's are tough to beat in terms of forgiveness. If your dad is old enough to lose significant distance you might want to look at a hybrid combo set like the Adams A2 OS. Good luck.

I'm considering The Wide Sole Fusion, read a lot of good stuff on them and also the regular 2006 Big Berthas. I actually compared these two at a store (didn't hit them) but the Fusion head seemed larger than the BB, which is a good thing I think.

I second the suggestion. For wide sole fusion, you need $$$, and for BB, you need $$. If you are lucky, you can get a new set of 2004 BB for less than 400 some times.

Wide Sole Fusion and Nike OSS. I liked the OSS a little better, and their cheaper.

This is a tough question that calls for a purely subjective answer. There is no quantifiably "most forgiving" iron. However, there is a category of ultra game improvement irons that you are probably interested in. Best to take your dad to hit a few and see which one he likes. The one he likes best will be most forgiving for him.

Nike OSS Slingshot hands down. The original slingshots were good too.

My dad was in the same situation for a while. He wanted forgiveness and went with the cleveland launchers. He loves them and finds them VERY forgiving.

I felt like I could do no wrong with the TM R7 CGB when I was demo'ing them. Most forgiving irons I've ever hit. Even funky swings ended up as marginally good shots. They cost a small fortune though.

 

Ping G5's felt great as well. Great weighting, high and straight launch.

There are tons of options as has been stated above. Really it all boils down to how much your dad wants to spend for a set. The Fusions (Original and Wide soled) are fantastic, but expensive. The Slingshot (any version) are super forgiving and aren't as pricey, but still wont be cheap. I would try to find a demo day near you and let your dad try a couple different sets and see what he likes. I will also mention what some else already has. A hybrid set could be the way to go so keep Adams in mind. The A2 OS are stupid easy to hit and very forgiving.
