Difference between the Ping Eye 2 and Ping Eye 2+

I am looking for a set to play around with and I am trying to figure out the difference between the two. I tried the search but it wasn't much help. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Loft. + has less and hits slightly farther per same numbered iron.

 

Sole width + Bounce. + has a narrower sole and less bounce then the originals.

 

Groves. + has conforming groves, older has the "non conforming" groves that were grandfatheres in as conforming.. + no + if you want the sole/loft/bounce of the newer +'s with the non-conforming groves.

 

Of course there are a couple of different versions of the older version. First was a V Groove. Next was the square groove with no radius "Other Pending on the toe" that the groves were too sharp and shredded balls. They radiused the groves and created the non-conforming square grooves that were very popular.

Tim Herron does as well. He has no equipment contract, so can play whatever he wants and chooses these ancient irons. Many players are still playing the wedges. Truly a testament to the design and how ahead of it's time it was.

I picked up a set of Copper Eye 2+ last month and have to say they are up there with anything made today. A great set of irons, as others have said way ahead of their time.

For the original poster go into pinggolf.com and you can compare the stats of al their classic irons. But basically bit thinner sole, different sole grind in the 9-SW, basically lowered the ball flight a little.

I think todays irons are far more advanced then those old +no+ so you might want to consider that.

Plus i have seen you play so maybe, an old set of Rams with those TWD drivers we had might be your best play...............LOL...............just kiddin MAC very nice clubs

I'm playiny eye2s right now. The new Rapture set will be the first new irons I've ever purchased.

 

The ey2s are great but I feel like it's time to try out some new technology and see if it's worth it.
