Do any of these work on increasing Clubhead Speed?

With the Seattle golf season perhaps five months long for us ex-California "perfect weather" guys, I spent the past six months in the gym using plenty of free weights to get stronger and fitter, while incorporating a few "golf specific" exercises as well.

But now that the golf season is REALLY here (meaning it's getting near 60 on some days), I want to limit my time in the gym primarily to cardio ("H.I.I.T.") while focusing on even more Golf Specific exercises like core strength, stretching, etc.

But what about these aids for simply Increasing Clubhead Speed:

1) Power Swing Fan. While very light, the wind resistance helps build accelleration while adding strength to hands, wrists and arms. What say YOU?

2) Golf Ball Taped to Long Iron. I read about this years ago, but haven't done it much. Seems to create momentum just by adding 1.68 ounces to the face of an old 1-iron. Anybody else heard of this and tried it?

3) Weighted Club. I've used this for years to keep limber but you can't swing it fast or you'll hurt yourself.

4) Speed Chain. Never even tried this but the advocates swear by it and judging from the easily-found online videos, it looks REALLY intense. Would love to hear a user's opinion.

Whippy Tempomaster? Orange Whip? Swing aids or DISTANCE aids?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Any other ides about increasing clubhead speed?

Strength work + speed work + flexibility = more speed. You need lots of time and dedication to make significant increases to swing speed

Sounds like you have done some strength work but how will you maintain the strength you have built doing Cardio only? Golf ball on a shaft (drill and epoxy not tape!) is great for speed training component (like sprinters training for speed by running downhill). You dont mention any specific flexibility program.

Speed chains look great for fitness, but hard to see how they can build strength (after an initial training effect )as there is no means to increase weight or resistance over time, same with most of the training aids you mention.

You can make small gains with limited time using the golf ball on the shaft. To a limited degree this exercise indirectly helps with flexibility.

I think the orange whip helps with core strength, flexibility and timing. I use it everyday!

check out cross fit, it will touch on all bases and is an ideal type training for golfers.
