Funny Ricky Barnes story

From Pete Dye Classic.

So me and my friend went the The Pete Dye Classic this year. We watched the 3rd and 4th round. But this was hilarious.

During the 4th round, Ricky Barnes was playing along with Fran Quinn and Josh Broadaway. On their 11th hole, Ricky hits a 3 wood from the tee and sliced it about 30ft. into the woods. He ends up about 2 ft. from a tree and has several in his line. To beat it all off, there are more trees about 100 yds. in front of the green, directly in front of a fairway bunker. Ricky is cussing like crazy and clearly upset, but hits a great shot that in turns hits the trees and drops in to said bunker. He gets down and hits a great shot from the bunker, and throws his club to his bag. When he walks to the bag, he kicks the club and hits one of the other caddies square in the groin. Ricky was very apologetic, although I found it a hilarious string of events.

Note: Ricky is one of my Favorite players, and I don't mean this to degrade him. Everyone has mistakes.

The story made me laugh. Why is any story involving someone (other than yourself) taking a shot to the groin funny?

I think that is what is holding him back. Remeber how much of an Word not allowed he made himself look like down under last year? Get a grip.

I can sympathise with ricky slightly.

everyone gets angry from time time.

some of my clubs have been given a good throw but hitting an innocent caddy in the groin is a bit extreme.

I incidently work as a caddy at gleneagles golf resort and if i was hit in the groin by my player he would get one right back!

Is it coincidence but americans are regarded as mostly poor tippers amongst my fellow caddys.

Is this the case in the states?

I think it's a lack of knowledge on knowing what to tip...understand that most courses in the States don't have caddies anymore...What is the norm for a tip for caddies?

Speaking of losing your temper, whatever happened to the ruling that they were going to start penalizing players for tantrums on the course...ala pat perez? They were talking about a 2 stroke penalty up to DQ for multiple infractions? It was suppose to include foul language, beating the ground with a club, or general loss of self control...

Ricky seems to make a habit of doing things like this. At the Knoxville Open this year he had a little tantrum on the 18th hole. He hit his drive into the trees on the right of this par five and was forced to punch out. Unhappy with his shot he tossed his club up in the air. Unfortunately for him, it did not come down. He spent the next couple of moments trying get it down, and almost lost another club in the tree. During this whole situation, Nationwide officials were laughing at the scene like they had not had any entertainment all day.

As a reply to what tei3rn said,caddys at gleneagles are given a £30 solid fee and tips average at £20.Gleneagles advise players to tip £15.However are advised to give more on long rounds and long courses like the PGA centenary and less on quick rounds(which rarely happen!) and short courses like the queens.
