Black Oxide Pro Platinum

my brother just had his old cameron pro platinum refurbished with black oxide in his college colors, I'm thinking about doing something to mine.

 

has anyone had their Scotty Cameron's customized?

I thought Black Ox only took to carbon steel? Are the Pro Platinum carbons?

Yes Pro Platinum putters are Carbon Steel with a nickle plating.

I had my Circa done in a black plating similar to the PP, its durable but I find that this finish is wearing too easily. If I had a redo, I would go with the Black Ox over this finish. The guys at BOS golf are great!

put baby oil in your headcover and try not to let any water rest on it.

I would highly advise against this. Oil in your head cover traps dirt and sand which will scratch your putter. What you should do is use Eezox to treat it and then wipe it down with breakfree CLP every once and a while. Always dry it before you put it in the head cover.

here is a BOS putter. guys, this thing was in bad shape, the hosel was a little bent and it was dinged up pretty bad. a buddy owed me $70 and gave this to me instead and i sent it off to BOS. i am an Arkansas Razorback fan and had hogs put on it, it was actually supposed to be spelled 'hawgs' but i added that last minute and did it over the phone, learned a lesson there :rolleyes:

I have most of my pro plat putters stripped and black ox instead. I prefer the feel to be honest.

Here is my latest DIY project. Hot black oxide finish (holds up really well - my vokeys were done at the same time and I've played several rounds now and the black oxide has hardly marked at all)

I used to send my stuff to BOS but the cost of shipping everytime to the US was a PITA, so I just do them myself now. I outsource the black oxide but everything else I do in my workshop.

I did the same thru BOS with a pp newport mid slant. Went with green and yellow paint and it is beautiful. Problem is my Abaco has been on fire. May be on the bst soon.

their is a clubmaker at our local golfsmith who refinishes putters, wedges and irons. he charges $35 for iron or wedge and $50 for putter including paint.

i sent my pro platinum to scotty's custom shop a few years back, i just had the pro platinum finish re-done with custom paint fill.

i would do this more often to putters, but within the last few years the price of a restoration went from $110 to $175 not including anything extra...

so my brother opted to get the black oxide finish for about quarter the cost of scotty's shop.

we have a guy at our local golfsmith who started doing some club work. i think he charges $50 for a black oxide finish and paint fill
