Apex pros vs. Apex plus

Differences

My father is looking for a cheaper "new" set and a golf buddy of his recommended these two sets....

What's the differences between the two?

The Apex Plus is the older of the two designs. Until just this past year Jim Furyk still had his in the bag and he had prototypes of the Apex Plus from before they came out. The Apex Plus is a smaller clubhead with MORE offset than the Edge Pro. The weighting in the long irons in particular is more toward the bottom of the club. The Edge Pro, which I have played since 2003 on and off, has a larger clubhead, thicker topline and less offset. The feel of both sets of irons is very similar. Typical buttery soft Hogan iron. IMO, much better feel than the newere Apex FTX combo set. The Edge Pro has a wider sole than the Apex Plus and if I have one complaint, the 3 iron doesn't want to get airborne very easily. I have had a few different sets of Edge Pros with a variety of shafts. Apex 5, S300 Sensicore and S300 Dynamic Gold. I keep trying other irons and keep coming back. Highly recommend but is more of a players iron. If you are looking for big time forgiveness, neither of these are your iron of choice.

I agree with ipygolf. I myself preferred the Apex + model to the Aprex Edge Pro model. If the long irons are too much to handle you could mix in the Apex Edge irons which blend pretty well with both sets. The Apex + are in my top 5 of players cavities. Just an excellent design.
