PENN National Golf Courses

Has anyone played here?

I am thinking of meeting some friends from the East coast at Penn National in a few weeks to squeeze in a few good rounds on an early October weekend prior to cold weather setting in...We are seriouly considering this place. Has anyone ever played these 2 courses? Feedback?

I've played Penn National..Nice track for getting some swings in.

Not like a Myrtle Beach or Ocean City heavy duty designer course ...But Very Nice. Should be beautiful in the fall.

Another track that is pretty nice is called Carroll Valley.. A Fun track as well.

I played the state junior championship at Penn National this summer. The original course is nice but no big deal. I liked the newer Iron Forge Course..i should i shot -2 on it in the second round to take 5th place in the State Junior Championship. Both nice courses. Older course is tree lined with some nice holes and a few ok ones. the iron forge course is a bigger longer track....fairly open but with fescue.....the "scue" doesnt really come into play unless you hit an absolutely awful shot though.....They both are nice courses so i would give it a shot if i were you.

Yeah, that course is pretty much wide open. Not demanding at all. Hit it as hard as you can and you'll have scoring clubs in your hands most of the day. It's not the best of tests. Simp

I played the Iron Forge course in June a while back and really enjoyed it. Can't recall too much about the layout other than it had a "big & open" feel to it. If you're having a good day with driver, you'll enjoy yourself. I played it at the end of a week long spell of golf in the area and was really starting hit it well. Stacks of good golf in the area and also down through Gettysburg and Frederick,MD.

The two courses at Penn National are completley different. Its hard to believe they are on the same property. When you get to the clubhouse you are next to the founders course. Nice course tree linned. Then you drive to thre Iron Fordge and you feel like you are on oversees. Its a true linlks style course. Both are good courses you should have a good time.
