lost 25yd on driver over night? do shafts wear out?

2 weeks ago - no crack continued to play with it, 3 rounds of what i thought were crushing drives to only end up 240 average...

until this morning- took it to the range to figure out what my limits were on swing speed...

hit 3 drives in a row where I swung out of my shoes, only to get to 250-260

my driver than had an accident with my knee.... it exist no longer....

anyways, I went and bought a used $99 Adams 9064LS with a RIP stick in it.... stiff 2.9

1st Tee shot was 327yds... 2nd drive 315yds... lower than usual but straight and bomb like...

they had another one identical but with a different number on the shaft.... 3.4, differnt torque... might get that one too and see if it helps me get some more height...

Nico, I definitely understand your situation. I've had a driver crap out on me after years of use, and especially the older composite heads (a la Rapture V1, Cleveland Comp, etc) can lose the bond between the composite top and titanium head. Manufacturing has since improved, but this has shown through your absolute bombing of the 9064. I had the same situation with an old Adams GT Steel 303 that crapped out on me.

On your 9064 situation, your current shaft is an Alpha version (lowish launch and spin), and the other version (either Beta or presumably Gamma) will launch higher and could spin a little more.

Having been in shaft design since 1991 and head design since 1986 in my career, I can definitely tell you that a shaft does not wear out or drop in performance unless it is bent, cracked, delaminated or otherwise damaged. So check the shaft for any little cracks or delamination edges first. if you can't find any, then check the face of the head as others on this thread have said to see if the face is caved in a little or if there are any little cracks around the face. Your symptoms of immediate distance loss do point to some damage of the face.
