Looking for constructive criticism

I am looking for some constructive criticism on my swing. My goal is a one plane swing. Both the swings in the videos produced good ball flight and went relatively straight. thanks,

To me most of your mechanics look pretty good...a couple of things.

You look too hunched over at address...it almost looks unnatural and you also look a bit stiff throughout the whole swing. Is your backswing in real time? I never thought I'd say this but it looks too slow.

I think if you could stand up a little straighter and get a bit looser it would help.

Of course I shot 100 this weekend so I might not be the best guy to tell other people what they are doing wrong.

you are a little outside from where I would like to see you. You still come over the top from the top of the swing. You do look really bent over almost to the point where it might hurt your speed and cause your right side to feel pinched after hitting a lot of balls.

I also think your backswing is indeed too slow.

Thanks for your input.

I agree with you that my back swing is too slow. I think that it is because I have been working on it for so long by going slowly and watching myself in a mirror. As for being hunched over I think that I was using my sand wedge and I am attempting to do the one-plane swing which favors being more bent over.

Your takeaway is too far outside. Also your first move to start your swing is your wrists cocking rather than turning your shoulders and moving your big muscles. A drill that may help you on your takeaway is putting a tee in the ground 12-18" behind your ball in the same direction as your target and making sure you take the club back so the toe of the club goes over the tee. That should help you get the feeling of taking the club back straight rather than outside like your current move. Besides that things look good. Hope that will help you.

Do you have a slight problem with a slice? Because I noticed that you right elbow seems to fly outwards a little bit. Just try to keep that tucked in more, or maybe I have it in to much I'm not sure but it's worked wonders for me.

Thanks for looking at my swing. To answer your question no I don't slice, anymore. I used to but through changing my grip and staying connected I have eliminated it. I think that the reason that it looks like it is flying is because I turn my shoulders so much. When I am at the top I believe that I stay connected.

Regardless of whether you are trying to be more bent over or not (which I'm not sure I agree with) you don't want your posture to be hunched at the shoulders. Also, you look a little stiff---like you are try to hard to "place" the club in positions on your backswing. I think that is a big cause of the slow swing and it is also causing you club face to stay shut during your whole swing. Try to focus on what you can control----grip, stance, posture, ect.....then let it go. Loosen up, seems like you're pretty athletic, so don't try and force it.

Not a bad move. I would agree that you take the club back too slow. You could also try to start the swing back with the large muscles and feel like your hands are "dead". I would bet that your bad shots are quick hooks. You have the clubface quite closed up top but, this is not always a bad thing. There are some very good players that play with a shut club face.

So I bought the Tour Tempo book and spent the last 2 days working on my tempo and I have to say that the author is on to something. My tempo is much improved and some of the problems that I have been working on have gone away. Specifically my hips out racing my upper body on the down swing. I also have worked on staying on plane in the beginning of the swing but that needs much more work. Anyways thanks for all of the advice. Here is a video of my swing with my improved tempo.

Your tempo is a huge improvement over the original video. However, I have two further suggestions.

1) Stop trying to crush the ball. You should be able to hold your follow-through for every club in the bag (regardless if its a driver or a lob wedge). The way that your shaft is rebounding off your shoulders/back is evidence that you are not swinging within yourself.

2) Allow your forearms/wrists to roll over naturally. You mentioned previously that you use to slice, but no longer do. This could largely be due to the fact that your face is closed at the top of your backswing (indicated by the clubface pointing towards the roof/sky). You may very well square the clubface at impact (I would need a higher FPS camera to determine this), but it may be something to consider.

In the space of three days you have made great improvements, stick with it.

yep tour tempo did wonders, huge improvement.

your stance should be narrower though imo
