Has anyone checked out this practice/simulation facility in the loop? www.play18chicago.com

 

Was there over the weekend and was impressed.

 

Seems like a good alternative to the domes for practicing in the winter. Using the aboutgolf simulator driving range bays is much more productive than the dome/bullseye setup. Pricing is fair and it's quite the man cave, felt like I could hang out the for hours, huge space, lots of tvs, bar, etc.

 

If anyone else has been here, curious to know your thoughts. If you haven't been, check it out. Not exactly chucky cheese's, this place is for die-hards.

I work around the corner from Play18Chicago and have been there a couple of times. First time was just to get info and second time, to hit balls on one of the "ranges" for an hour.

I think it's a cool place. For those that haven't heard of it, they have two (or three) stalls that are course simulators where you hit into a large screen depicting a golf course (i.e. you could play Pebble Beach). They also have three or four stalls where you hit into a net. In the driving range bays, there's a flat screen that shows stats such as distance, how many yards off center, roll, ball spin, etc. It doesn't show club head speed.

They have several leather chairs and couches, a pool table and a full bar. They also have lockers.

Last time I was there, they were going to send out membership info that week but I never received an email. That was about a month ago. As I understood it, different levels of the various memberships would include a set amount of hours on a simulator as well as on the driving range. I'm guessing lockers would be offered within some of the membership levels. Of course, you could pay by the hour if you like (simulators are $50/hour, per person and the range bays are $25/hour).

I agree, it's a great alternative to driving to the range in the suburbs and a cool place to hang out.
