Whippy feeling in shafts - normal?

Hey all, I am an amateur club tinkerer and a high handicapper. Never really had a consistent swing until lately when I found the right instructor (finally!).

 

Previously I knew what I didn't like in a club feelwise - shafts that felt stiff and boardy. Of course, since I suck lots of stuff felt stiff and boardy. However, now that my swing is coming around I am now feeling a distinct whipping action in my shafts when I swing.

 

Now theoretically and from the ballflight (no recent LM data, sorry) I know that I am doing fine. However, is this normal? It makes me feel kind of powerful. Previously even regular-flex stuff didn't feel this bendy - just kind of responsive or neutral. I gravitated away from them just because my ball flight was all over the place. Stiff flex seemed to correct this to an extent, but some stiff flexes I tried (Project X 5.5 and 6.0 in irons) just felt 'dead' to me.

 

What kind of feel do you guys look for in a shaft? Maybe it sounds weird but I've never had this feeling before and I'm curious what other people think.

Personally I look for the proper weight when i swing. What i mean by that if it feels too light the club will usually whip to much and I will hit balls every which way. If it feels "heavy" that means it is too stiff for me, so I feel like I'm not coming around on it very well, and more tend to hit consistently the wrong direction. When I find one that feels smooth on a natural swing, then I usually hit the ball straighter which lets me know I have the correct shaft. I'm a newbie too, so this might not be that helpful just some experience I have noticed so far.
