This is for the techies out there...

I'm a big fan of having as much information as I can on the course. I try to keep up with the latest gadgets and apps but have fallen behind on my GPS apps. I'm looking to track my stats as accurately as possible. What is available right now that you can mark your ball after each shot and then transfer that data at the end of the round to a spreadsheet? Anything?

You want an app to track the distance of each shot? Would you also need to record the club used, to give some meaning to the distance recorded?

No offense, but I hope you're not playing in the group in front of me while you spend time fiddling with your gadgets.

Have you ever heard of TMI??

Rant finished.

your best bet is just to take notes then manually type it in excel. Shouldn't be too bad.

65-100 odd things you have to enter...depending on what you shoot.

That's what I've kind of resigned myself to doing. Problem is, half the time I can't read what I wrote down. Maybe I need a penmanship class instead.

Golfshot can track your stats and email them to you. It can also record distance if you have the GPS version but I don't think it can save each shot result and email it to you. Sounds like of pointless if you ask me.

Use it every once in a while to record your distances with each club, write it down so you know your distances and trust them next time.

If you have a simple gps/waypoints app on your phone, it wastes no time to just create a waypoint at each shot (and tee and hole), and then transfer the data. I've been toying with doing this myself. If you don't remember what clubs you used, then just make notes after each hole quickly to correlate with the waypoint numbers.

To the OP. Techie here and am in the same boat. One piece of technology I have not kept up with is GPS handhelds for golf.

I have been wanting to get a rangefinder but have been holding off in leau of finding an accurate GPS device that does the auto stat keeping like you mentioned. I envision, walking up to my ball, telling the device, my ball is here (1 sec operation) and then being able to export the raw results at the end of the round.

I know sky caddy does driver distances but wondering if it or any others do all golf stats at once.

GolfShot GPS for iphone. In the app while you are playing your round you tap the hole icon, tap the club icon, when you get to your shot tap done and the club you just hit the shot with. It records it and at the end of the round gives you averages hit with each club.

Does not slow down the round in any way. App is $30 but well worth every penny. Does so much more than track shots.

Try mScorecard - you can mark every shot and 'see' those shots after game displayed on the map as they were played (positions, distances, what club). However I doubt it can be transferable to spreadsheet.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
